UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

When is the next info session y'all are trying to attend?

heavykevy,

Thank you for your advice during this crazy process! The next information session is February 23, 2012 from 9:30-11:00am.

When do we need to start applying for financial aid? I have filled out my fafsa (as much as I can without one W2) and wanted to start looking in to other options. I know it's early but it we don't find out until April and then start this process there isn't going to be a lot left over! Is anyone else doing this?

I'm not sure when we are suppose to start applying. When I spoke to someone at the school, they told me it won't do you much good to apply right now. She said we might as well wait until we know if we've gotten in. I personally am considering applying early, but I already know I won't get any federal assistance :( I just need my fafsa completed with denial so that I may apply for student loans. I think that is so dumb that they now require a person to be denied federal assistance before they can even consider a loan. Just dumb!! Oh well..... A girls gotta do what she needs to do to get sh** done ;)

I got an evaluation!!!

Yay pRaYeRfuL! I'm still waiting for mine!

I haven't gotten my evaluation yet. Does EVERYONE get one? Even if you're still enrolled in classes and a completed transcript is still on your to do list? I also sent in my application a little later than everyone else so I'm not worried yet, I just don't know why they would send me a transcript evaluation when I haven't completed all of my courses yet.

Thank you and it will probably come soon. I think it done randomly since my application was turned in around Jan 7th or so. For some reason they did not use my stat class it was Math 1342. I guess I will have to call about that on Monday. Its funny that even after finding out I would receive an evaluation, I still freaked out thinking that it may be an early rejection letter. :-)

I think that's normal. The reason I like this forum so much is because I get to see all these other people who are in the exact same boat I am. We are all planning our lives around the acceptance/rejection to this school while at the same time trying not to get our hopes up or our hearts broken. It's really nice to know that there are other people just as crazy about accomplishing their goals as I am. :)

littleone126,

I feel the same way about this forum! There are so many questions that I have had or fears and coming here I am not alone! We are all in this together and truly understand the ups and downs with this process. Plus I can vent my frustrations with being impatient and wanting to know if I'm accepted/rejected because my family is sick of hearing about nursing school! lol

I know! I swear if my fiance hears "UTH" one more time I think he might run far far away from me.

Lol to both of you.... so true.... no one but other hopefuls are so eager to hear me talk about this process everyday. I love this forum and I have learned so much even from the old posts!!!
