UTHSC Fall 2015 Applications

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone! I did not find a thread for fall 2015 UTHSC applicants so I decided to create one, sorry if there is already one. I am going to be applying to Prairie View A&M, UTHSC, and Lone Star College (with UTHSC being my first choice). My current stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 3.9

I am taking my Hesi test this Saturday. I'm fairly nervous about it so I'm studying non-stop until it's time to take the test. :nailbiting:

I'm looking forward to talking to everyone else that is applying! :)

I signed up for the HESI by giving the department ID for UTHSC, and before I left the testing center I asked the woman working there if they directly sent scores or if I would have to have them sent over. She told me they automatically send the scores to the Dept. ID school that you give while signing up, and told me to confirm once the winter break is over.

Hopefully they'll update everything once they come back since the deadline is approaching soon!

I keep getting emails from my school telling me that they haven't retrieved my transcript yet. I hope it's just because its the holidays, I sent it in a couple of weeks ago though. Did you guys send your transcripts to the UT health registrar email?

Chelsea, that's where I sent my transcripts and I even verified it with them that it was the correct location. I'm not getting any emails at all from UTH about not receiving my transcript, but it is only showing as "initiated" under status. I wonder if we have to wait or if we can verify with an actual person that they were received.

The registrar, if you call them, should be able to verify if they've received them or not.

UTHSC Fall 2015 applicant too! Let the wait begin... so nervous. :nailbiting:

Does anyone know if there's a formal date applicants are notified of acceptance or denial? From what I've read, it's sometime in March.

When I visited the campus a few weeks ago, Student Affairs said that the decision tends to be made roughly a month to month and a half after the application deadline. So yes, she gave the time frame of late February to March :cat:

N. Maren - was your visit to Student Affairs pretty helpful? Did they mention anything else that may indicate what they are looking for in applicants?

That's excellent news (though I'm still going to lose my mind waiting- ha!). I appreciate your help, N. Maren. :)

@bnmatlock

To be honest, I did not learn anything particularly of note. The lady was very helpful and essentially went over the program flyer with me (the same one available on the website).

She did mention that the Fall and Spring are *slightly* more competitive than the Summer sessions though. Understandably, she did not go into selection specifics other than saying that "competitively," one's GPA tends to be 3.3+ despite the minimum GPA requirement.

@twolittleleaves

You are welcome! I totally hear you on the losing-one's-mind-while-waiting part :D

Hello everyone! 😊

I finally got to apply online tonight. I started the process a little late, because I wasn't prepared to apply this. I still have 4 more classes to complete, but I read as long as we have 40 and 3 of them science courses, it should be ok.

I took my hesi, I made an 88 overall.

Math: 76 ( horrible in math )

grammar: 90

vocabulary: 90

Ct: 830

a&p:100

reading:82

gpa: 3.7

science: 4.0 (missing Chem)

I really hope it's enough to get in!

Those are really great scores! Is there any advice you can give on studying for the HESI? How did you study for anatomy? that is amazing you got a 100!

Hi! Thank you, even though I totally bombed math lol I am very bad on word problems. As for the rest, I just used the elsevier book. For anatomy, I used the book along with flash cards I had from my previous anatomy class...have you taken the hesi?
