Hi everyone! I did not find a thread for fall 2015 UTHSC applicants so I decided to create one, sorry if there is already one. I am going to be applying to Prairie View A&M, UTHSC, and Lone Star College (with UTHSC being my first choice). My current stats are:
Science GPA: 4.0
Overall GPA: 3.9
I am taking my Hesi test this Saturday. I'm fairly nervous about it so I'm studying non-stop until it's time to take the test.
I'm looking forward to talking to everyone else that is applying! :)
I have no idea how they assess and rank all the applicants and it's driving me a little nutty I took my HESI today and didn't do as well as I would have liked. I didn't study at all and I slept about 4 hours (I have a 7 week old). Overall I did OK, but I would like to re-test in January before the deadline. I am also applying to TWU Houston and if I don't get into there or UTHSC-H, I will just go to Lone Star for an ADN because I already have a BA. If I calculated everything properly, these are my stats:
Sci GPA: 4.0 (taking Micro in Spring though)
Overall GPA: 3.58 (if I calculated correctly)
HESI Math: 96%
Reading Comp: 84%
Grammar:92%
Vocabulary: 94%
Critical Thinking: 840
but I completely BOMBED the A&P with a 76%
Overall HESI Score: 88.4%
How does one study for the critical thinking? That portion of the test wasn't in the official test prep book
From what I've heard, the school doesn't give any feedback once the decision has been made. If you go through the forums, people have been trying to figure out what the biggest factor in gaining admission is and I don't think there is a definite answer. Some say critical thinking score, others say science GPA and number of repeated courses. Who knows! It's hard to play the waiting game though.
Hello! I am also applying to UTHSC for the Fall 2015 semester and I just took the HESI A2 yesterday. I just a little nervous about applying but also anxious to see the results hahah I have a few pre-reqs left to take for the Spring semester but I have enough to apply already. I just wish the deadline wasn't so early (Jan. 15th) because now I have to wait until everyone comes back from Christmas break to get the process of updating applications/scores/transcripts started. It's okay to submit the application now and send in the official transcripts afterwards, right? I just hope they get them all in on time (*fingers crossed!)
Yes, go ahead and get your application in as soon as possible. I am still waiting on them to show my transcript and HESI score as received and it was sent over to them a couple of weeks ago. Getting Evolve to send the HESI transcript to them took about 2 weeks before they even mailed it. Did you have your scores sent direct to the school from the testing center?
I applied for summer (and fall). I had my HESI scores sent directly to UTHSC but they still show up on my to- do list. I called to confirm that they had been received and was told that they are inputting HESI scores and not to expect to see them in the system until after the first of the year.
It looks like they are about a month behind as I took the HESI before Thanksgiving.
