Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Has anyone who still has classes in progress have had their transcripts removed from their to do list? I will be taking two classes this fall semester and I know that might be the reason why they still appear in my to do list, but I just want to make sure since I haven't been able to contact them and the deadline is right around the corner.

barrereb,

Yeah I already looked at that list but just wanted to know if the course numbers on there were set in stone or some exceptions could be made. But thanks for the insight!

As far as the incomplete on your transcript, it will remain incomplete even through the deadline since you still have classes pending. At least i was told so by someone at admissions. I'm in the same boat. So don't worry you can still be accepted even if you have credits pending so long as they're all completed by the time you matriculate.

I would call and check. I called this morning, and she said she doesn't think they have my updated transcript and to call on Friday to check again. They should have it already though since I sent it the 12th and it's an electronic delivery.

I don't think the course number matters as much as the course name because it varies from school to school. Anyway, from what I understand, the only difference between microbiology and microbiology for health science majors is the level of difficulty. For health science majors, the course is focused more on disease and treatments for relevancy. I honestly don't see why they wouldn't accept both. They accept introductory chemistry vs regular chemistry, so it seems that they would accept it, but if you call and find out, let us know!

I've read all the comments on here from some of you who are repeating the HESI.

Not sure if anyone else attended an information session at UTHSON, but I thought they said you could only take the HESI twice period, not per application term.

Does anyone know which is correct? Twice per application term, or twice period.

Also, does anyone know if you can register for the HESI without a school code?

I'm scared about taking it my second (and possibly last time).

You can only take it twice under UTHSC's code. But you could take it under a different schools code and if you are happy with your score, you could send it to them afterwards. Try to take it under HCC's code...just make sure you take the correct sections of it.

Gave admissions a phone call today and it turns out that the only way the upper level microbio would count is if you have attained a bachelors degree already. Otherwise, in many peoples' cases who are just taking pre-reqs to transfer, it wouldn't suffice and they would have to take the microbio listed under the transfer guide for their school. Hope that helps anyone who has encountered a situation of this sort!

What is the number that y'all are calling to confirm that they received all of your transcripts?

I am anxious about that and don't want anything to go wrong :)

Hey guys, the deadline is this week. Has everyone submitted everything and has UT gotten all ur stuff?

I hace submitted everything. I'm just waiting!

Me too, just waiting. Fingers crossed. Did u apply to any other schools?

Everything submitted here! I only have one required class in progress.

I have also applied to HCC ADN but only as a backup. they also require the HESI
