Hello everyone!
I've been looking around for a UTH - Pacesetter BSN forum for Summer 2021; haven't found one so I'm going to start one here! This forum is for anyone applying for or just curious about the Summer 2021 application cycle (deadline Jan 15th, 2020). If anyone has any questions, concerns, worries, or anything they'd like to share during the process then you've found the right place! We're here to help each other out. Best of luck!

I submitted everything December 15th and I didn’t get that either ?

They don’t send the transcript evaluation to everyone. There were several that got accepted in the Spring that never received one. I got one, but I had prerequisites that I had not yet completed. It seems most that received one, still had outstanding prerequisites. Either way, don’t let that deter you because like I said, some got it, some didn’t.
Getting in contact with anyone that can help from UTH is impossible... do y'all know what courses I should use to calculate my science GPA? Also, they don't use retakes against you correct? They only count the highest grade from what I was told but alas I have anxiety so I just wanna confirm LOL. I retook anatomy 1 and 2 to get A's in them so that's why I'm checking.

Hey! Thank you for the information, which emails should we have gotten after submitting the application?

Hey! For the Science GPA they look at your Microbio lab and lecture, Chem lab and lecture and A&P labs and lectures. They don’t count retakes against you, they calculate your GPA with the highest grades. Good luck to you ?

Good luck to you as well thank you! My anxiety is so bad right now. I have a 3.78 and a 3.75 science GPA which is great but I got an 85.2 on the HESI which I thought was good but upon looking at people who applied or people who have been denied I’m afraid it’s not. ?

It’s okay to be worried but honestly the admission is like a lottery system so you have a fair chance! Your stats are great and 85 on the HESI is good too ? I recommend just letting fate do it’s thang now and hope for this best, thank you!

could you explain how a lottery system works? I have a very loose understanding

Sure! UThealth never specifically say it was a lottery system, however those who’ve applied in the past has seen different kinds of GPAs ranging from high and low ones get accepted. Those who have a perfect GPA have gotten denied and those with lower GPAs have gotten accepted. So, many assume that they choose those who get admitted like a “lottery”. So I’d say not to lose hope because everyone has a chance!

I don’t necessarily agree (although I don’t work there, so I can’t say with certainty :-)) and I’ll tell you why —- So, you’re absolutely right that there are people that get accepted with perfect scores and GPA’s across the board, and likewise, there are people with lower GPA/scores that get in as well (although, from those I talked to in the GroupMe last semester, the lower scores/GPAs were the exception, and by lower, I didn’t see any 3.0’s, but I did see a couple with a 3.3 -3.4ish for overall GPA).
They’re not solely looking at the HESI score, prerequisite GPA, and science GPA... there are other “factors” (see link below, some don’t apply, such as the essay/interview as of course those aren’t applicable to this particular program.) They take prior degrees into consideration, difficulty of workload for prerequisites, previous employment history, ethnicity/race.. they list out several factors, so you could see someone with 4.0, but maybe they only took one or two classes a semester, etc., so they select someone with a slightly lower GPA that had a much tougher course load, for example. So, it’s difficult to say, but I don’t think it’s a “lottery”, in the true sense of the word. They definitely have a board that makes the selections.

@fruitloops1200 @jdh I submitted my app and two transcripts in September and my third transcript in December so maybe that’s why. But my GPA is a little below the ones I’ve been seeing above so I don’t think it necessarily helped me any to submit early LOL.
