Alas! Here I go again! This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!
@McKinneyMom...well you know my advisor would not release ANY info to me when she and I emailed back and forth last Thursday afternoon and Friday....so very disheartening to me!!!![]()
She wouldn't even tell me info that was already on here such as, the official number of ranked applicants...she said that info was "confidential" seems a little strange to me!!

I am still anxious to see how all this plays out before I decide what to do about Fall 2012...praying you all get called and have a spot!! :)
I agree with you. I feel like we are not getting the full story...and why are some folks getting information and others aren't. You and I must have the same advisor. She never tells me anything (and this is my 3rd advisor) - my 1st one shared everything and was EXTREMELY helpful. The one I have now, I am lucky if I even get a reply to my email. I emailed my advisor this morning to clarify several things floating around on here and am hoping she will respond. I forwarded her our internal document that is used to sell our staff on applying at UTA and there are a few disconnects with what is actually going on and what is being said on here...I will let you all know what I find out....
I must say, I agree with all of you. I am a bit disappointed about the entire process. I am parterned and still on wait list. I was under the impression (told by my hospital) that as long as I met the criteria, it was automatic acceptance as long as enough spaces were available. I've emailed my hospital coordinator and have received no response. This is weird because in the past, when I asked something, I would get a reply in less than 24 hours. I am still waiting to know if all spaces have been filled in my hospital (at least on acceptance letters). I trully believe something happened. No info on wait list status or anything. They might be trying to cover up something
[color=#234786][color=#333333]i thought it was interesting that below is all uta mentions about partnerships. and you have to dig for this. i never knew any of this info until i started reading blogs(about the partnerships). baylor would not let me in until second semester of clinicals. kind of a double standard if you ask me.

[color=#234786][color=#333333]do i need to be employed by a partner hospital in order to apply to the program?
[color=#333333][color=#333333]no. if you are not employed by a partner hospital, but would like to seek employment, you may contact one of the partner hospitals to discuss your options. if you prefer to not be employed by a partner hospital, you can still apply to this program. if you are accepted, we will place you in a hospital cohort.
Just an FYI everyone, I have spoken to the person who handles the contract with UTA on my facilities behalf and she is contacting the dean of UTA nursing for clarification. She did however confirm for me that I am correct on one point. Baylor employees are to be given clinical preference at Baylor when filling open Academic Partnership spots. Meaning if 20 spots are open at Baylor and 30 Baylor employees apply, the top 20 of those 30 are chosen to fill the spots the other 10 are wait listed for Baylor. If there are 30 spots and 10 people from Baylor apply - all 10 are taken and the remaining 20 are given to non-partnered applicants based on their ranking.
At Baylor, our applicant pool always exceeds our available slots - I would bet due to the fact that we have so many facilities and outpatient centers.
Bottom line is that we all want to be nurses and we will all get our chance... It would just certainly be helpful if the AP website more clearly outlined the partnership / non-parntership relationship with regards to rankings.
I have sent an email to channel 8 news. This may not help anyones immediate situation but may help others in the future. Our records should be open to look at and our status available, not confidential. The lack of information from advisors and "sales people" is something that should be addressed. UTA is taking in a lot of money from students that feel they have a chance to get in but were never told certain information about the full scope of what it takes to get in. I encourage anyone who feels they might have been mislead to send the email as well. Good luck with the dean I hope that goes somewhere.
@katybusymom....Congrats on getting accepted to two programs. I applied for the Fall 2012 AP BSN and I live in Cypress, TX. I was just wondering, are you partnered? Since you and I are in the same neck of the woods, I was wondering if I need to apply for a job at a partnered hospital. I keep reading all the posts that seem to indicate that.
Congrats Katycath, are you partnered. I've been reading these posts for days now and I'm starting to wonder. I live in Cypress and have applied for the AP BSN program Fall 2012. I also reached out to Katybusymom, since we all live in the same general area. Sure would be nice to have some friends in my same struggle lol.
Sherri86 please do not let our posts worry you...my advice for the AP program would definitely be to be partnered. Your odds are better, but obviously not guranteed - several of us are partnered but on a wait list. Also, I think it would serve you well to interrogate (for lack of a better term) your advisor and it's probably best to do this via email, so you have their responses in writing. As you have probably read many of us have been told several different things and some of us told nothing at all. The AP program and UTA's traditional program are 2 of the best in the state. They are highly regarded by current nurses as being excellent programs. I think most of our frustrations are with admissions, obviously, but again, do not be discouraged.
