UTA Spring 2021 AO BSN/BSN Cohort

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Is anyone else applying this June for the Spring 2021 Cohort, either the AO BSN or the BSN?

I'm currently taking CHEM 1451 and STAT 1308. If I pass these classes all I have left are Path and Pharm. I received a B for Microbiology, so I will be retaking that I think, and most likely CHEM & STAT. I received a C for the HIST 1312 US History since 1865, I took it at UTA, if I retake it at my local community college can I ask to replace the grade? Additionally, does anyone know if an Associate's in Science counts as a previous degree?

Don't forget!

  • Check your vaccinations! Start getting them squared away now! Especially the Hep B titers.
  • If you're from outside the US and have had the BCG vaccine, you will need the T-Spot or QuantiFERON blood test (which you probably already knew).
  • TEAS should be taken no later than 4/1/2020 (per the advisor).

Application deadline is June 1st!

UTA selection process is pretty inconsistent and ambiguous, nobody is certain to be in, until you're in! Let's keep praying!

I was going to apply; but I haven’t completed general Chemistry and I don’t have any considerations. Without the TEAS, I have no leverage.

Yeah you definitely need chem. The TEAS was waived this cycle but you only need a 58.7. It doesn’t count in the point system. I’m finishing chem this semester and that is why I’m waiting to apply. I would have more leverage if the TEAS was weighted. I went to Austin March 30 to make sure I got it taken and got a 95.3%!

Yeah I know! It’s cool, I’ve applied to other schools. I’d rather start nursing school this fall instead of waiting until Spring 2021. But let’s be real, I don’t think anybody ever gets in anywhere with the minimum TEAS or HESI score. Especially when there’s lots of people applying with high scores like yours. CONGRATS by the way, that’s an amazing score; I’m sure you’ll have no problem getting accepted!

For UTA it doesn’t matter as long as you make the minimum required. It’s just like crossing something off the checklist. It’s the only school I have come across that doesn’t take the TEAS or the HESI into consideration. Other places I think they should raise the minimum because it makes people think if they get the bare minimum they can get in. Just because you only need Cs in science doesn’t mean you will get in, right?

Thank you! Are you applying anywhere else or just UTA? Once I get in I’m going to petition the school that spouses should receive the same considerations that the VET gets.

I would think that would have been a consideration as well. I’m applying to UTA, TWU, and Brookhaven.

Should we start the BON stuff right now? I have my immunizations and I just need to get my titers done.

Exactly! They set minimum requirements like 58.7 on TEAS and C’s on your prereqs but there’s no way you’re getting in with the minimum stats when there’s people with A’s and B’s and an 80 or higher on TEAS applying. I think it gives students false hope.

Exactly, AOBSN is so competitive and I don’t think anyone with low GPA has any chance to get in unless they are partnered or have lots of consideration. Even I have seen partnered people on waitlist. My advisor always used to say that I have a pretty high chance to get in with 4 GPA. He used to say above 7.5 points is competitive, but it is false information for AOBSN. I have seen people with above 8 points getting waitlisted.

Don't forget to apply to TWU. you have a great chance there and you will be 100% accepted there. UTA admission looks weird to me

Thanks, I'll look into TWU as well.
