UTA Spring 2021 AO BSN/BSN Cohort

Published

Is anyone else applying this June for the Spring 2021 Cohort, either the AO BSN or the BSN?

I'm currently taking CHEM 1451 and STAT 1308. If I pass these classes all I have left are Path and Pharm. I received a B for Microbiology, so I will be retaking that I think, and most likely CHEM & STAT. I received a C for the HIST 1312 US History since 1865, I took it at UTA, if I retake it at my local community college can I ask to replace the grade? Additionally, does anyone know if an Associate's in Science counts as a previous degree?

Don't forget!

  • Check your vaccinations! Start getting them squared away now! Especially the Hep B titers.
  • If you're from outside the US and have had the BCG vaccine, you will need the T-Spot or QuantiFERON blood test (which you probably already knew).
  • TEAS should be taken no later than 4/1/2020 (per the advisor).

Application deadline is June 1st!

My GPA=3.83, science GPA=4, and I have a master degree. my points should be 8.32. I wish this will be enough for me to get accepted there. I'm taking patho this Summer.

How do you figure your points?

summation of your GPA+science GPA. even if you have any other considerations they give you 0.5 point for each consideration, you can find them here https://www.uta.edu/conhi/_doc/unurs/AO-BSN-UD_admission-brochure.pdf

Do anyone know the average points for the accepted students in AO BSN last semester/years?

My advisor said to me they start looking for people with 7.5 and up for AO BSN. But it's also depends on application pool for that semester.

so nothing to do just praying now! let's hope we all accepted. I heard the priority always is given to the people who completed science courses or 30 hours of prerequisites in UTA. or those who are working in partner hospitals.

Nothing we can do just praying ?

Yes! The anxiety is real, but I also think people with 8 points and over should worry less especially for Spring application which tends to have less applicants compare to fall.

Do they accept more in different cities? I'm applying for the Houston area.

I believe so, because of the distribution ratio of availability of clinical sites for that semester. If they accept more students from a certain part, they may have clinical placement problems.

Sorry guys I'm totally new to the process so I apologize if I sound like an idiot. Is there any benefit to retaking a science course (A&P 2 B-->A) after the admission deadline since they make the decisions on September?

It won't make sense at all. Only classes that are done and transcript submitted before the application dateline will be use in ranking of students. I will keep the B. If is the only B you have in all your science, then you should be fine. Even two Bs is not too bad. Do you have any consideration?

Thank you for the clarification! My only consideration is a previous Bachelors (Kinesiology) which I earned at UTA. My point total is 7.5. I'm going to look into other programs since it's so competitive.

7.5 is a great point. Although the program is very competitive, application pool varies each semester and each cycle. With your Bachelor's degree in kinesiology from UTA, you should be guaranteed a spot in the program.
