UTA Spring 2021 AO BSN/BSN Cohort

Published

Is anyone else applying this June for the Spring 2021 Cohort, either the AO BSN or the BSN?

I'm currently taking CHEM 1451 and STAT 1308. If I pass these classes all I have left are Path and Pharm. I received a B for Microbiology, so I will be retaking that I think, and most likely CHEM & STAT. I received a C for the HIST 1312 US History since 1865, I took it at UTA, if I retake it at my local community college can I ask to replace the grade? Additionally, does anyone know if an Associate's in Science counts as a previous degree?

Don't forget!

  • Check your vaccinations! Start getting them squared away now! Especially the Hep B titers.
  • If you're from outside the US and have had the BCG vaccine, you will need the T-Spot or QuantiFERON blood test (which you probably already knew).
  • TEAS should be taken no later than 4/1/2020 (per the advisor).

Application deadline is June 1st!

Not all people can fulfill considerations bc international students cant work at hospital, military and do ROTC... im happy for people who got accepted but I wish uta make something alternative for people who cannot try to get consideration...

Just to update anyone on the wait list or wondering where they stand . I contacted and heard back front the nursing program today. They calculated my points correctly - total points were in fact 8.828 and I am waitlisted.

Does that mean you were waitlisted because they made a mistake??

No , maybe I worded that incorrectly out of frustration. They originally calculated my points correctly, I contacted them to double check as I know a few people with lower point totals that were accepted and could not believe that more than 8.8 points would not get me a spot. They were partnered and I am not, so I’m accepting it and moving on.

Have you applied elsewhere? If I had been you I would have already purchased my blue scrubs. My husband was sure I would get in with my 8.435 but I had researched enough on this board to know better. I have an app in with TWU with really high points AND they are transparent with points, so that might be where I end up. It's longer but you don't have to deal with this.

I should have and it’s my own fault for not applying elsewhere as well. Texas Tech has a  2 different 12 month online programs that I am looking into for those that already have a bachelors degrees. Good luck with everything!

I get that! I kept hearing that 7.5 was competitive. I think it's time to retire that. I also saw TT but I was too late when I found it to apply

Oh okay Yeah heard AO is tough. But I still hope you’ll be called out soon although you’re not partnered. That is a grt stat, something will work out. All the best

I also wonder why UTA does not post the acceptance profiles. IE the average scores, background etc. I was searching through schools around South Texas and noticed all of them had that as accessible information. This was the first time I had applied to a nursing school, is that normal?

thought you all might want to know that UTA advising told me they had over 800 applicants this cohort for the AO BSN and only accepted 180. I requested more student demographic information since they don't give that data out proactively and if I get it I will post here.

That was because they publicized not needing the TEAS. People in a facebook group for the TEAS talked about applying even with less than stellar grades. They didn’t realize that they only needed a 58.7. These were people having a hard time making that taking the TEAS

So, I decided to ask about the wait-list situation...and here is the convo:

ME: "I just had a question about the wait list time frame. So, I read the e-mail and it stated students will be on the list up until orientation, which is Jan. 06. So does this mean wait listed students are in a limbo about acceptance/denial until then?"

THEM: "That is correct."

ME: "Oh wow, so anytime between now and then I can randomly receive an email if I was accepted? Even in Jan.? Or will acceptance be for fall 2021?"

THEM: "Students will find out up until the January orientation. After the orientation, the wait-list will be closed and students are free to apply by January 15th for the Fall start. Students will receive a phone call if they are selected. Students who are not selected will receive an automatic email stating that the wait-list is closed. If you are accepted, more information will be provided."

Hope this helps. I repeated myself to ensure they knew what I was asking since they seem to always tip-toe around questions.

Gosh! I didn't know this (I don't have FB). If they did that, then they should've at least considered more seats or not wait list the other 600+ students.
