UTA Second Degree Fast Track Program

Hey y'all!

I'm about to start taking my prereqs this summer to meet the Jan 5, 2010 app deadline for the University of Texas at Arlington Second Degree Fast Track Program.

Anyone around about to do the same thing? or anyone in the area already in or about to start another program?

I applied for the Fast Track in TWU but got rejected.

Me Too! I kinda knew my GPA wasn't high enough but I applied anyway hoping that my NET score would outweigh my GPA. I guess it just didn't cut it. Keeping my fingers crossed for UTA. I really like their program so far. They are really focused on helping students succeed (in my opinion).

Any news about the UTA fast track?

I am in the waiting list for the TWU Fall 2009 Dallas campus but I would like to explore other options.

i still havent heard any news about that program. the lady was supposed to email me more information about it when she got it.but she hasnt.

I got an email saying the program was canceled. Does anyone know why???

I got the same email. It just said for some unforseen circumstances.. ehh? who knows.

I heard through the grapevine lol that they are going to focus on the students that will be applying this year and other incoming applicants...also to mention they have enough nursing teachers just for the regular semester! Oh yeah & Goospy if your going to take concepts make sure to take it in the summer bc they are changing Concepts to a 3 credit hour class fall semester!

that is very interesting. I was highly disappointed and in a grumpy mood all day after I got the email. I don't understand though what that means that they are focusing on the students who are applying this year. I was planning on taking concepts this summer, but now I am for sure am going to take it. Thanks for the heads up!

what I meant was that they probably do not have enough teachers for the 2nd degree program bc they are kind of tight on teachers. So they only have enough faculty for the 100 students that get into the program each semester. Sorry for the confusion :) I'll ask my advisor when I see him and get the scoop! This is just what I heard from other students

oooo, i see. yah, that makes sense. definately let me know what he says. I will now be applying for the regular spring and if the fast track is ready, i might apply for that as well. thanks!

can either of you tell me how much that nursing concepts class is at UTA? i need it for my school and im trying to lighten my workload for the fall. is on the internet or only on campus? do they have patho as well?

I'm not really sure I just pay the flat rate tuition for all the classes I take....but I looked on the UTA website and its about 875.00 for Spring 2009 not sure about the summer....summer tends to be a bit cheaper. They do offer Patho and Pharm in the summer but I wouldn't dare to take those classes in the summer bc they are super hard from what I've heard from my nursing friends!!!! I'm taking those in the Fall its to much info for me in the summer lol

Weird. This is the email I got from an advisor at UTA 6 days ago regarding their fast track program -

"Starting this spring we will be piloting a 15 month online accelerated program. All coursework will be online and clinical rotations will still be in the hospital. It is the same admission requirements and prerequisite coursework. We have not determined an application deadline for that program at this time but will be posting one soon on our website once it had been determined."

So... some of you have heard it was cancelled?
