Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...
Post away!
You might want to visit their program. I am taking my patho and pharm there right now and I am far from impressed. Additionally, right now it is hard for BSNs to find jobs. Hospitals ARE NOT hiring ADNs. A few RNs I know who graduated in Dec still have not found jobs and they have BSN's. It's not a pretty world out there in the job market right now.
Congrats on your acceptance. I got too cocky and thought I had UTA On Campus BSN in the bag so I didn't apply elsewhere. Im kicking myself for that now.
I did the same Mnjordan. I didn't do any ADN programs becasue I thought it would be a waste of my time....At HMFW they are making any nurse with ADN get their BSN within 2 years and from what I hear they are no longer hiring them either.
Rubyred although TCU is expensive I would take the offer. If all else fails and you end of being pulled of the UTA waitlist you can just back out last minute. a BSN program is going to be your best bet over ADN anyday.
I am still wondering why the hell only like 3 people have posted they got in!! Is it just me or does it seem like all the people on this thread where rejected or waitlisted!
I think that since all the people rejected or waitlisted got their e-mails first they posted about it first and the people who got accepted didn't want to look like douche bags posting about their acceptance to all of us that did not get accepted.
Also, the majority of people who were accepted go to UTA and they already have a network of other applicants in their classes so they don't look for blogs like this.
Whomp Whomp.
I am very surprised at how much the considerations matter - I mean I definitely don't have the highest overall gpa because I got a C in a stupid biological anthropology class I decided to take freshman year & 2 B's - I thought my gpa was good but it seems like my considerations are what got me in.

Trust me no one is more surprised than me lol...my sweet husband keeps trying to cheer me up but it isn't working. After 10 years being out of school I decided to go back January 2011. I completed 50 credit hours in one year! I feel super blessed to come this far and to be accepted into two other programs and waitlisted at UTA, but I can't say that I am not a little disappointed at not getting in. TCU is just way too expensive for us so that is out of the question. I am still going to apply to Mountain View Nursing (deadline to apply is June 7th). It is a ADN program and they participate in the Pathways to Nursing program through UTA. Once you complete your two years and take the NCLEX you can automatically be accepted into the RN-BSN bridge program through UTA this way. Thought I would share this info with anyone who didn't know it already! Hope everyone has a great night!
