UTA fall 2011

U.S.A. Texas

anyone else apply to UTA nursing school for fall 2011. I'm waiting for an admission decision.

I think working at a partnered hospital plays a huge part in the decision. I am an EMT with an AA from a community college. My overall gpa is 3.5 and my science gpa is 3.68. I have no bachelors degree and no previous courses at uta aside from intro and patho. I work at a partnered hospital and sent my fall 2011 application in april of 2010. I was a bit anxious to apply. But I was accepted to the online partnership which is the one I wanted.

I'm so happy I got accepted to the traditional! My science GPA was 4.0, and my overall GPA was a 3.9. I took all my classes at UTA, and my only class left to take this summer is Micro (@ TCC).

Does anyone know how many students they accept vs how many apply?

I'm not quite sure the exact number of students that are accepted, but I'm pretty sure its around 120 students. I don't know how many applied, though. The advisers should have that information and I don't see why they wouldn't tell you if you ask them... I know a lot of people who previously applied used to ask those questions all the time. Congratulations, by the way!

I was in full anxiety attack mode when I went to my mailbox on today just to find...a THIN letter. Grrrr! I got the AX.skeleton.png I have a range of emotions going on right now that I haven't quite grasped and it's probably not wise to post...so I digress! Disappointed? Yes, indeed. Devastated? No. For those who WERE accepted- congrats on a job well done! We need more compassionate, prudent nurses. There's a reason why UTA consistently performs well on NCLEX. Make us proud! For those who were NOT accepted- it is NOT a validation of our drive, our competence or intelligence. I think we were just too big for that "box!" Bigger is better in Texas, right?! ;) There are many roads to a BSN, so I'll challenge you to explore those options as well. I'll weep...maybe have a few tantrums on tonight because I know that I'll be exceedingly joyful later on. I'm not giving up on UTA; however, since I couldn't get through the door, the window is my next option! Many blessings and continued success to all!

@MOCHA CHILD

I feel your pain.....and yes you are right this is not a validation of our intelligence, but this will allow us to have strength to continue on from a HUGE fall....

Hi Ash.ley. I just retook the AP A&P1 class online to replace my grade. The class was intense, but worth it. I got an A.

I got accepted this time. I applied 2 times before this one. I think what helped me is getting partnered with one of the hospitals. You should definitely look into it. Let me know what you think about the purchase.

jd- thanks for the offer. I still have my A&P books/lab manual and a fetal pig... so I'm good. I can retake my AP I class.... but I'm thinking of moving on. I don't have a previous degree or certification, so I'd have to go to school for something else, then get partnered, then apply again... and then finishing nursing school. OR I could change my major and find a new career path and be done sooner.

Good luck selling your book and lab stuff! I'm sure there is some freshman out there who would love it! Best of luck and congratulations on your acceptance to the program!

I didn't get in either. However, I was accepted into TCU Accelerated Program, which was my number 1 pick anyway. But UTA is an awesome school so congrats to everyone who got in. It's been a long wait. I applied back in November and I had the worse advisor ever who never returned phone calls or emails but had the nerve to email me when she assumed stuff was missing from my file and I had to often inform her that my file was complete and I had to send stuff in like 3 times......

I had awful experiences with the advising department as well. Congrats with the TCU application. Keep your grades up and you should be a shoe in for the CRNA program there if you're interested.

jvens

I was not partnered and I was accepted. Retake some classes and try again if nursing is really what you want to do! :) You can do it.

Txgrl84...what was your GPA and your HESI if you don't mind me asking? I am not partnered either, but now I'm looking for a job at a partner hospital because I didn't get accepted. I graduated summa cum laude from UTD with a degree in Neuroscience so I'm wondering what the difference was between the non-partnered applicants.

adrialeigh,

I went this morning and spoke with my advisor and she stated overall this applicant pool FALL 2011 was the hardest 1200 applicants total 180 acceptance letters total to both programs! She stated that the AP BSN program this semester had apx. 600 applicants and this time around it was more competitve to get into vs. the traditional. Normally traditional is more competive....Alot of good GPA's; However, those who are partnered(Employed by their hospital) have an advantage over non-partnered(SHE did bring that to my attention)...Very few unpartnered students were accepted..She stated apx. 15 students all others were partnered! Were you waitlisted???
