UTA AP BSN program Fall 17

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

So I'm trying to see anyone is going to apply for UTA's AP BSN program the fall of 2017. I have been following threads and trying to get some information about how this program is set up. I did my application to the school last year for the Fall of this year. I'm trying to knock out my science classes, but I have withdrawal from my biology class 4 times and Im wanting to take my chemistry over the summer. Possibly doing my other 2 sciences with UTA. I haven't taken the Hesi A2, I plan to take that around the Fall. So, I just like us to update with each other and encourage each other to get into the program. I would do my stats, but I haven't taken gotten them yet. As soon as Im finished, I will post them. Everyone is free to post theirs

Just received the dreaded email that the wait list for Fall 2017 is officially closed.

I also received the same email. I am kind of confused cos I don't have any back up school.

Unfortunately I am growing accustomed to it. I've received a total of 6 denials from 3 different schools over the last 1 1/2 years. If I was accepted at UTA with my first attempt I would be finishing up this Summer already, but instead I'm looking at a Spring 2018 start as my best case scenario. I have decided to widen my options and apply to several more schools including a couple ADN programs. It makes me cringe just thinking about spending another 2 years for an ADN, but it's better than nothing like I have now.

Oh man @Brandon Hare I'm sorry to hear that, if you don't mind me asking what are your stats? Did you apply to both the UTA Online & Campus? Do you have any considerations?

I applied to both the online & campus at UTA for Spring 2018, and also at El Centro/Northlake for ADN. And maybe looking into applying at Brookhaven and TWU. I really don't want to spend so much more money on the ATI TEAS test for TWU. But I'm scared I wont get into my first choice at UTA. (is there a forum for SP18' UTA on here?) Where else are you applying? They make the ADN programs so tedious with vaccine paperwork.

Pre-requisite GPA - 3.4

Science GPA - 3.75

HESI - 95.something

My considerations include:

More than 12 science hours at UTA

More than 30 hours pre-requisites at UTA

As of 2016 I have finished all pre-reqs including patho, pharm, & med-term. Up until now I've only applied to online, but I did apply to on - campus for Spring 2018 too. It will be interesting off accepted since have a wife, kids, house & business here in Pearland. If accepted I may drag my RV up there for me to stay in. I'm also applying to UT Health Houston, TWU Houston, Sam Houston, Texas A&M & for ADN, San Jacinto, Alvin & Blinn. I've spent well over $1,000 applying so far which included application fees, test fees & transcript fees(I've attended 5 schools).

What are your individual hesi scores? They look at each section. That's so weird because it looks like you are a really good candidate. I'm on the same boat as you, I'm done with everything including pharma, paths, and ULE. Now I'm worried about having to pay for NURS 2400 (I think) Intro to Nursing at UTA what if I don't get it? I'll check my stats in a second.

It's funny you say that about the HESI, because I've been told all UTA cares about is that you met the minimum requirements. I know most other schools look at each section closely.

I took intro to nursing Fall 2015, since my first application was for Fall 2016. I'm sure some of these classes are only good for a couple years, so I'm not sure what I'll do if they require me to re-take several thousand $ in classes just because I keep hanging out on the wait list.

Oh my god your scores are good also. That's so weird I think you need to make an appointment to Talk to an advisor about this. Maybe they will tell you what's going on. And you can either keep trying or give up on UTA. I really can't think of why they would deny you.

Honestly I think it has to do with available clinical spots here in the Houston are, or better yet, lack of. They have a ton more spots in the Metroplex, so if you choose that for your clinical you have a much higher chance of being accepted. I heard they only had around 20 spots for the Houston area this Fall, not sure if that is true or not.

I don't consider myself a good test taker, especially with stuff that is so old and I haven't seen in many years lol. I'm more practical. But I'm 100% positive they do look at each section to make sure you have over 75% in each one.

Also, I read somewhere that UTA will be transitioning to the new TEAS ATI instead of HESI. What a nightmare!!! If you go to your degree plan eval. on Myuta you will see the TEAS score section at the bottom. tsk tsk

I haven't submitted my pharmacology "A" yet, and I'm also retaking microbiology for a better grade and a refresher.

I've taken the TEAS already, so I can just send them my scores on my 4th or 5th application attemptí ½í¹„

Oh wow thats almost nothing. I hope they increase the program after seeing how many people apply and keep reapplying for their program. I wish I would know now, this is so much stress.
