Is anyone applying for Spring 2016?

I am hoping we find out next week, like you said everyone last year found out on Oct. 16!! I'm nervous though, I called admissions the other day and they said they are accepting half the normal amount of students for the accelerated program which makes the stakes much higher than before. Good luck to everyone!!

Hi Anne , thanks for the update. This is scary. wow.

I am hoping we find out next week, like you said everyone last year found out on Oct. 16!! I'm nervous though, I called admissions the other day and they said they are accepting half the normal amount of students for the accelerated program which makes the stakes much higher than before. Yeah I was shocked, they said in the past they accept 80-100, this coming semester will be from 40-50. So that means they can be much more picky, although the smaller class size would be great. There haven't been too many people writing on this thread so I'm wondering how many applied.

I totally agree with you. Those at Longview campus particularly from what I read in older threads said their class was smaller and it made all of them work and support each other like family. Lets keep our fingers crossed and wait. Next week is almost here. I wondered too like you if many students applied as I am not seeing many posts .

Woah! The drop in admissions is nerveracking, even though I never knew how many they accepted! I agree on the thread, there aren't as many people on it as there were last fall! Just an update on my stats when I went and met with Tammie she calculated my nursing GPA to be 3.5, and never calculated my cumulative GPA. My TEAS scores are 88 Reading and 70 Math. I have finished every course that is needed for the program but I am currently retaking AP 2 just to improve my grade. I am curious to know how the decision process goes for this program because it seems like the courses you haven't taken, or are retaking, aren't effecting your GPA. So what if someone makes all C's in there courses this semester, with a higher GPA before getting the C's, but was chosen for the program versus someone with a lower GPA before but turned out to be higher than the other persons after they got C's??? If that makes sense?? Lol. I am really crossing my fingers I get into this program, and will definitely appreciate a smaller class even though it makes it more competitive! Wish the best for everyone applying!!! Hopefully we will find out something next week :)

It's definitely tricky how gpa and the selection processes go from what I've heard and seen! I have about a 3.75 nursing and 3.8 science, I made a 90.5 on reading and 83 on math-I also took the science portion so I wonder if they will be factoring that in and taking my overall or just science and math. The only thing bringing me down is this is my second degree, and that gpa is not very competitive. I think it's sad that being a college graduate is Working against me versus people who, like you said, may be making c's after getting accepted. I too have finished all my courses needed. Since starting over I have a 3.9. I hope they take everything into consideration, I'm excited for the few of us! Hopefully we will get a chance to meet each other!! :] your stats look great from what I see emarie2!

Your stats look great @anne2112!!! I wouldn't be worried if I were you, and I don't think you having a college degree will go against you at all!! I also took all portions of the TEAS but I think they are only looking at math and reading. I also believe they are just comparing nursing prerequisite GPA which would be chemistry, micro, AP 1&2, nutrition, psych, and psych g&d. I'm not sure if they compare core GPA or not. I agree, hopefully we do all get to meet each other! Crossing my fingers!!! :)

Okay the nervousness now is officially amplified!!! I wonder the same; maybe they are choosing a smaller group possibly because of a smaller number of applicants? Good luck to you all!

I'm in the same boat for the second degree issue with my first degree GPA being not so competitive :( hopefully it's not used against us that much and instead a contributing factor to the bigger picture of our applications!

When I called they said the reason why was because they currently have too many students enrolled and want to cut down the amount that will be at the school. :/ And yeah, I applied to UTMB as well, had an interview and got waitlisted-I have no doubt only bc of my previous gpa which still isn't terrible. It stinks having that against me :[ Nursing school is sooo competitive! Let us know if anyone hears something!

hi all, nursing gpa is 3.39 and TEAS results are Reading 90.5% and Math 100%. That is shocking that the number of accepted students has dropped.

Wow @erf90!! Great TEAS scores!! Wish I was able to retake the test! And yes the drop in accepted students is unfortunate! Has anyone heard anything as far as when the emails might be sent out? I'm so anxious!!! :x3:
