Hello Future Nurses,
Wanted to know if anyone was preparing to take the Hesi a2, and or applying to UT Houston before the Jan. 15, 2014 deadline for Fall 2014???? I would like to form a study forum!!
It is really making me a nervous wreck. Lol. Now we have to wait over the weekend. I wish we knew how they choose students. I read in some thread someone got in with way below GPA requirements. And then some other had perfect GPAs with great Scores and they got denials. I really think a machine does all the work.lol. Good luck to all of us still waiting!!!
Yeah they seem to be very inconsistent with who they are accepting which is a little frustrating :/ I also realized I never posted my stats on here. So here they are:
Overall Gpa: 3.94 (dang B in dual credit highschool!)
science gpa: 4.0
Hesi overall: 88 :/ (not the best standardized test taker)
I also have worked as an ophthalmic technician for the past year and a half while I have done my undergrad at Texas Tech. I was accepted into their program on Wednesday and I have to give them an answer by the 11th. I am really hoping UTH gives us an answer before then or I will probably just decline my acceptance to Tech and reapply for the spring program because I really want to come back to Houston! Hopefully we hear soon because I can't wait much longer!

It doesn't make sense for people to get in under the GPA requirements? I mean, low GPAs, yes. But lower than a 2.75?
I agree, I feel like a machine has to be doing all the work. But I question the part about people not meeting the requirements getting in.

Yes, someone in the summer session was just accepted with a 2.3 overall and 2.25 science gpa. Also they made it very clear that you had to have 3 out of the 4 sciences COMPLETE before applying and I remember seeing someone say they are finishing 2 sciences this semester. It just seems a little strange.

I did not see someone with that low of stats get in, but if I remember correctly, applicants needed to have 8 of the 16 science hours complete to apply - being 2 science classes, not 3.

Oh I must have been told wrong about the science hours being complete, but yes someone did get in on April 2nd with that GPA for the summer. I am very glad for everyone who has gotten in so far I just wish we knew more about their selection process!
I saw the stats you were talking about and think that may have been an error. At the info session they said they throw out all applications that don't at least meet the minimum requirements.
Don't lose hope y'all! We only have 48 in our Facebook group and some of them are upperclassmen! :)

I honestly do not know. Maybe there is a computer behind it! I submitted my application December 17th. Maybe they are going through them by submission date?
