UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

When I got into HBU, they had this company called Identogo schedule a fingerprinting appointment with me for th background check. I'm not sure if they will send a blue card to me or to the school though. When you went, was the blue card sent to your house? How long did it take?

Mine was also scheduled through Identogo, the blue card was sent to my home address and it took about 10 days to get back to me, I've actually gotten two (one for each program I'm assuming, lol).

Thank you! That puts me at ease about the blue card.

Have you gotten titers and immunizations done yet? Trying to figure out the least costly place to do them.

I have all my immunizations except for this years flu shot and all my titers except for MMR.

I did most of mine on base in SA before moving here, but I found Express Family clinic to be pretty reasonable on their vaccines/titers when I was calling around.

Does anyone know of any good cheap apartments close to the school? I went to UH so I am familiar with houston but I am from Dallas orginally. So I need to find somehwere near beacuse I also dont have a car.

Am I the only one who hasnt received an email??

You're not alone I have not received anything. From what I've seen in forums from past semesters we are either going to be waitlisted or denied.

Has anyone received a denial from UTHealth yet?

I have a couple of friends that work at TCH. I think after some thinking and initially leaning towards UTMB I'm going to go with UT Health. It will save so much time and gas, and according to some previous students, UT Health does more rotations in the TMC vs UTMB who will use smaller hospitals closer to their campus. But then again I thought to myself they're a level one trauma center, but I'm sure there's another one of those in the TMC too, so yeah I think I'm going to roll with UT Health.

No. From previous threads it seems as if they wait a couple of days after acceptances to send out denials/wait list.

SIGH! So stressful

Has anyone received a denial from UTHealth yet?

I haven't received anything yet. I wish that decisions were sent out all at once so we can know where we actually stand. From the previous threads it seems like waitlist and denial notifications will be sent out in the next couple of weeks. This is so frustrating.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted.

That sounds like a pretty solidly based decision! I am still torn between SHSU & UT Health myself, there are so many factors that go into this decision it's making me crazy! lol.

I saw you mentioned you live in the woodlands, I live in Spring right outside of the woodlands, if I choose UT maybe we could look at carpooling!
