UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

Hi yall, Im just trying to wrap my mind around the selection process. I have not received an acceptance or denial (but I kinda know what that means). To the ones who received their acceptances yesterday (congratulations)- were any of yall still in process of completing any prerequisites or are you completely done? Just wondering if that was a factor in their decision-making processes? Me, personally, I was finishing up 4 pre-reqs. With all of those being complete by December, if I dont get accepted, I have no idea what I am going to do with my time next semester? lol

Absolutely most definitely! I live off of Sawdust!

I'm completely done with all my prereqs. Had a 3.7 overall, 4.0 nursing, and 4.0 science GPA, and a 94 Hesi score. Haven't heard anything. It's very frustating to not know exactly where we can improve. It would be wonderful if they were just a little bit more transparent on what it is that they're looking for. I'm totally disappointed, I feel you! I'll apply again for Summer and other schools, and right now I'll just be focused on work and studying for the TEAS.

Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted though! I can only imagine how great that must feel!

HEY STEPHANIE, I just sent you an email.. nice to meet you

I am in the middle of finishing my chemistry prereq. I was rejected from UT Health the first time I applied. I'm convinced it's possibly a lottery.

That sounds like a pretty solidly based decision! I am still torn between SHSU & UT Health myself, there are so many factors that go into this decision it's making me crazy! lol.

I saw you mentioned you live in the woodlands, I live in Spring right outside of the woodlands, if I choose UT maybe we could look at carpooling!

I tried to reply directly to this but failed! Lmao. I would love to carpool if you choose UT Health! I live off of sawdust. Also idk where SHSU does their clinicals, but it was such a big deal to me to do clinicals in the med center. That was literally my deciding factor. I wish you luck in deciding!

I completely agree about having no idea what I'm going to do next semester! I'm currently taking only one class, the last class I needed, to fill an elective credit/science credit for when I apply to UTMB for the fall. It truly looks like they take the HESI more into consideration than the GPAs so I will probably be retaking my HESI before reapplying for the summer semester. I had no drops, F's or classes that were taken more than once and have a 3.9 commutative GPA and 4.0 nursing and science, which is what makes me think HESI is more important.

Your stats are awesome! And yes, thats what drives me crazy- is not knowing the "formula" for how they choose... All I can think to do is go back and retake any classes I ever got a B in (I never have gotten less than a B). My nursing was a 3.625 GPA, as well as my science- and I got a 93 HESI...

As for the TEAS, Ive taken it 3 times, I will say that (for me) it was much harder than the HESI because the science portion covers biology, anatomy, chemistry, and physics... so the questions were much more diverse...

I dont know what else I can do to change anything...

EmJay, was this your second attempt at applying? Congratulations though!!!!

YAY! Emjay! Look forward to seeing you at UT in a couple of months ;)

Yes it was, my second time! I honestly wasn't holding my breath either. I never received a transcript evaluation this time. I also emailed the school months ago inquiring to insure they received my new HESI scores. I never heard back! So when I got into UTMB I ran with that because I honestly never thought I'd get into UT Health. I have some friends who have applied 4-6 times to with no luck. Then some people get in on the first or second try. My point I'm trying to make is, I didn't specifically plan for UT Health bc the acceptances are always so all over the place. Always have an alternate route. Don't be discouraged. Also, thank-you for the well wishes. [:

I'm in your same boat lol. A's in all of my pre reqs, except I'm currently taking micro and philosophy. I even made a 100 on A&P. The thing for me is that I have a 3.1 GPA from a previous degree so I'm guessing that's it. But I was really hoping they'd see how long ago that was and pay attention to As for the classes they require and my decent HESI score. I really can't think of anything else to do. I'll probably reapply just to see if I can get lucky next time.

I also never received an evaluation so I really have no idea where my grades officially stand.
