UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

So if I am correct. Not everyone will receive an evaluation? Say that I turned in everything accordingly. Does that mean those who have discrepancies Will or have only receive one. I keep checking my mail just in case.

Any insight about the program? What are the hours like? I'm pretty nervous since I have to juggle two kids on my own.

It's so good to know I'm not alone. I have a one year old and a two year old and I'm scared that I won't be able to handle the course load...

Yes on mine it lists: Overall GPA, Nursing Prerequisite GPA, and Prerequisite Science GPA. Overall GPA is listed first on the transcript eval.

Where did you receive your evaluation? To your regular email or the application portal?

Specializes in OB Nursing.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why some people get them & some don't, it seems to just be a flaw in the system. This is of course just going off of the information available in past forums and doesn't reflect any official information from the school. It also has no indication of acceptance/denial as some who were accepted received them while some did not.

Mine was letter mailed to the address on my application.

YES I'M PRETTY SURE THEY ADMIT STUDENTS WITH CERTAIN PERTCENTAGE OF RACE!!

I gave a call to UTH SON on yesterday, they said everyone will have one transcript evaluation and all transcript evaluations have been sent out so be patient and wait for it.

I gave them a call yesterday, and she said 1200 ppl apply in the Spring 2019 lol. dk if this is real.

Fact Book | 218 UTHealth Fact Book - UTHealth

According to this fact book, Cizik SON accepted 37% of White, 22% of Hispanic, 19% of Asian, 18% of Black, 3% of mult-racial, 1% of unidentified in 2017.

In 2016, Cizik SON accepted 39% of White, 22% of Hispanic, 16% of Asian, 17% of Black, 3% of Multiracial, 2% of Unidentified, and 1% of Pacific Islander.

In 2015, Cizik SON accepted 41% of White, 21% of Hispanic, 16% of Asian, 15% of Black, 4% of Multiracial, 2% of Unidentified.

In 2014, Cizik SON accepted 45% of White, 19% of Hispanic, 18% of Asian, 13% of Black, 2% of Multiracial, 1% of Unidentified, and 1% of Pacific Islander.

These numbers are pretty stable in the past few years! That's why I agree @ph0603 said they admit students with certain percentages of each race/background.

Thank you for this! I have been wondering about the racial breakdown of the program ever since I have heard about the percentages. It was my AP professor who had first mentioned it to me, and I believe he knows administration members at UTH

I received my transcript evaluation by regular mail yesterday. My GPAs were about as I had calculated. It shows which courses have not been met yet (I am currently taking those), except for my Philosophy course. I was told I could use Humanities in place of philosophy but according to my transcript, they counted my Humanities as an elective and my Philosophy requirement still needing to be met. Im glad I got this so I could find a mini term Philosophy course to take before the end of this semester! Anything we may be missing must be taken prior to the start of the program if we are accepted.

You're welcome! I have an assumption that they might assort applicants into different ethnic groups, then people in their group are going to compete against each other.

Yes, I was thinking something similar. Sounds a bit Hunger Games, though lol

I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. I think we'll start to find out on either 10/18 or 10/25, because in most of the other sessions, the acceptances began going out on a Thursday afternoon.
