I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.
My name is Edera,
I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.
Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!!
So they factor in the GPA for all the colleges youve attended right? For example, if i took chem at my home university but i retook it for a higher grade at a community college, they take the higher grade?
They take the highest grade to calculate the prereq GPA, but factor in all the grades for the overall GPA. I retook a history class and that is what they did

So does that play a part on your chances of being admitted?? I didnt realize they looked at OVERALL GPA. I just thought they took the highest and disregarded everything else
ughhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHhhhh

I'm not sure if it's looked at, but I don't think they would take the time to even calculate it if it wasn't :/ I'm saying this because there actually was an "overall GPA" section on my transcript evaluation when I applied for Fall 2018. I haven't received one this semester yet, so I don't know if they changed that for this semester
Hi everyone!
I have been following this thread for a while but I finally decided to make an account to comment. I am from Dallas but went to UH to finsih my pre reqs. I have never retaken a class or the hessi. I am nervous considering this sounds kind of like a lottery. Good luck to everyone!!
GPA 3.80
Science GPA 3.5
Hessi Overall 95.6
Reading 96
Grammar 90
Vocab 92
A&P 100
Math 100

Yes, they took what would fulfill the prerequisite courses, and for electives, they chose classes that would fulfill the requirement with the highest grade possible. For yours, they'd let you use the higher score for your pre-req and science GPA, but every past score still affects overall GPA. Not sure how heavily they weigh that though.

Yes, I asked at the info session plus others have confirmed that we have all been told they will look at overall cumulative GPA (but it's the 3rd that they will look at).
I found this link that might explain some of the mystery of the selection process.
I still have no clue though haha. I have heard that they may have diversity quotas, but I don't know what that would mean either, like what percentages of each race/background they'd attempt to admit.

Yes on mine it lists: Overall GPA, Nursing Prerequisite GPA, and Prerequisite Science GPA. Overall GPA is listed first on the transcript eval.

I would really love to see where I stand and what classes they are using for my GPA. I might end up giving them a call tomorrow. I didn't think that would do anything since it's such a large applicant pool.
