UT Health Pacesetter Spring 2019

Published

I know its a bit early to start this forum seeing as the deadline is September 1; however, I wanted to have a place to communicate with all the people applying for the spring semester. we might be able to help each other out with information about deadlines, application status, plus its also nice to talk with people going through the same thing as you. I'll just start by introducing myself.

My name is Edera,

I am currently a senior in High School. I will be graduating High School with my Associate's degree, thanks to the dual credit classes I have been taking. When I finish High School I will have 40 of the 60 credit hours completed. I will be taking Chemistry, Microbiology, and Growth & Development in the Summer, and then Intro to Sociology, Statistics, and Nutrition in the Fall. I have yet to take my Hesi, I plan on taking it in June or August. I plan on starting the application this week.

Hope to see many of you here, so that we are able to help out one another. Good Luck everyone!! xhappy2.png.pagespeed.ic.zjIVMhQq4z.webp

I did mine already. I'm applying at UTH and UH. I put UH on mine because I got the information from them first about doing BLS...

Do you mean UH Sugar Land, the second degree BSN program?

Yes. I applied to the 2nd Degree program at Uh Sugarland.

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone who applied for the program! I graduated from UTHealth this summer, and still remember how nerve wrecking the whole waiting game is. Good luck everyone!

Thank you so much for stopping in and saying hello!

Any words of advice & heads up for the program? I love hearing the experiences of others.

Any applicants supporting a family on here? I know we are "discouraged from working" if we are accepted, but for me, thats unrealistic. I dont have a sugar daddy (would be nice though!) and Ive got plennnnnnnnnnty of bills to pay. Ive been at my current job for 12 years but its M-F and 9-5. I will have to quit for nursing school, Im pretty sure. I was wondering if anyone had any plans to work nights at a hospital or something?

Oh that was originally my first choice because of location and the short program! I got discouraged after hearing from/reading about former and current students who said the hours are especially crazy due to it being a 1 year program.

Any insight about the program? What are the hours like? I'm pretty nervous since I have to juggle two kids on my own.

yeah, but I'm in my 40's and I wanna get done and working ASAP! I'm encouraged by their NCLEX pass rates...

I'm so glad everyone else is dying with the waiting too! Is it really gonna be mid-November?! I thought maybe mid-October. Geez. I plan on working one day a week after the first semester but we'll see how it goes. I also applied to Baylor Fast-Bacc and TAMU in Round Rock.

My husband and I do but we have both agreed that I won't be working while in nursing school. However, I will honestly only go down to PRN status (I work in a freestanding ER) and possibly pick up a shift per week. Maybe.... we will see how it goes.
