UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

oh, everything on mine was completed and the HESI still says completed.

UTHealth is teasing and testing my patience like no other right now. LOL

I just called to ask about my evaluation. I was told they are still sending them out in waves and will continue to send them out for the next 2 weeks. So I'm guessing We will not know anything before Nov 15.

for anyone who has already received their evaluations. Did you guys have any specific changes in your to-do lists or on your account in general?

Well not necessarily, because people have gotten their evaluation after they have been accepted too. I am hoping we hear earlier than that tbh; I am a nervous wreck

Like everyone else, My to do list has become much shorter. I had 3 transcripts and my HESI and now I only have 1 transcript and my HESI. I also now have a hold (like I previously stated)

Yes I've seen several people receive an evaluation past the notification date.

Just saying, I think UT Health is more organized and they have an easy application process than PVAMU. It's also cheaper to apply cos PVAMU cost more ($100) but you're never able to track your application or get information on time. UT Health all the way folks...

I just agree! PVAMU's application process is so long and you need to pay close to $120. However getting ahold of someone is easy ! You will get an email the same day or the day after ... What others schools did ya apply for ? I heard TWU sent out acceptances already. I didn't apply, I missed the deadline. Plus I didn't want to take the TEAS!

I agree about the TEAS. I took this earlier this year...it was challenging to say the least. What are thoughts on UTHSC vs. Lone Star? Technically I believe the study time (15mo.) is about the same because I believe Kingwood allows fall courses to be taken earlier in the summer. So it evens out. Thoughts anyone?

Are you trying to compare an ADN program to a BSN program? If so the BSN will win out every time. Think about the amount of time it takes to go through an ADN program then add the RN-BSN and your at 3 years or so. With UTHealth you can finish your BSN in less than half the time.

I completely agree! At first I was planning on getting my ADN but then realized it took the same amount of time as the BSN. A BSN will look better when trying to get a job! An ADN is a lot cheaper but you would have to go back to school for you BSN and most RN-BSN are online and I would much rather get one on one with that instead of online .

I also didn't want to take the TEAS. I do agree that you get someone on the phone @ PVAMU. Ms Farr is nice but she has little information and Ms Vernica seems impatient and would cut you off if your question offends her. They could do better instead of acting like we are desperate (which we really are lol). I only hope the professors are willing to help student who want to learn and the program is more organized than the admission process.
