UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

This is my 3rd time applying and can say with certainty that not everyone will receive a transcript evaluation.

I submitted my application a few months ago. It was back in May. I had went to the information session in September and Christina had talked about receiving a transcript evaluation 2-4 weeks after applying.... I was soo confused. I went home that day and emailed her. She didn't reply. 1-2 weeks later...voila...it was sent in the mail. However, I had called the school before the info session and a lady told me not everyone receives an evaluation

Yes I applied for Fall 2017, I never received a evaluation and I was waitlisted, I am hoping I'll receive an evaluation to see what I needed to improve

Under "To Do List", all of my transcripts have a status of completed except for one saying "Initiated." Anyone know what that means? I called awhile back to double check all of my transcripts came in and they said they did. A little worried.

If I remember correctly, the evaluations pretty much only have your prerequisite courses listed that they are accepting as a "met" requirement and tell you which courses you still need to take. I don't think it tells you anything about what you need to improve on, unless you're like the person who had a 70 on part of her HESI, they probably just let her know that a requirement was not met. I mean I could be wrong but when I got mine thats all I remember about it

This is my second time applying (regrettably) and I've never gotten an evaluation; it is unacceptable that only some people received one when we all paid the same application fee. When I called them last cycle regarding the evaluation they said that it had already been sent out; I never received it (address confirmed). I feel like they lied just to get me off their backs. Calling them is like playing Russian roulette; you get the runaround when some misinformed person picks up and gives you sketchy sounding answers. Like others who have retaken classes at multiple schools, we just want to make sure that our grades were inputted properly to reflect our hard earned GPAs; which was not the case when I called them after the cycle ended to see what kind of grades they had for me. After painstakingly trying to get someone on the phone, they told me a GPA and credit hours that were way off from the evaluation I got from another program under similar guidelines. Apparently they had missed a few classes that I had retaken ONCE and even a few credit hours altogether. Had my grades and hours been inputted properly, I might have had a fair chance. I am not bitter at being denied, just very annoyed that I was not competing with accurate information. My biggest mistake was to not have called them again after a few weeks of waiting for the evaluation to make sure they sent it or verify with them my grades over the phone. I trusted UTHSC to accurately examine all my transcripts, but they really dissappointed me. A tip from all of this is to make sure that the information they have for you is reflective of what you really have (GPAs and credit hours) and don't take no for an answer. We paid an application fee for a reason and they need to do their job.

this is super sad and scary ! But is true! Many times they don't answer. And about evaluation is so true we should all receive one! We do pay for application fee..

Not to mention every time you call (at least in my experience) the attitude on the other end of the line was rude. Like I was wasting their time asking anything. Very frustrating! :(

So I received my evaluation in the mail today and it literally looks like the transcripts from both schools that I sent in are on one paper. My question is if there is a line that doesn't have "okay and a + sign" what does that mean? Also mines didn't have my Hesi scores on it either. Soo.. the sheets of paper I received are scanned transcripts sent back to me or is it a course evaluation?

(I am not sure if my previous comment did not post?) I just received my transcript evaluation today. I wasnt expecting one because I was on numerous past forums and several people never got one. I am super sorry to everyone who didnt get one. It shows all the transcripts, if you met the requirement for each subject, and gives you your science gpa, nursing gpa, and overall gpa.

To the person above me, the "okay" means you have met the requirement for the subject. For example, I had an "okay" for subjects such as Chemistry, English, and History but do not have an "okay" for Biology and Nutrition since I havent taken Anatomy 2 or Nutrition yet (currently taking it right now)

Did you have "okay's" next to your GPAs?

No I do not, do you?

I called Tech support this morning and Jeremy was nice enough to tell me that people who are not students yet will no longer have access to myUTH we can only go through apply. Its not till a person gets accepted that they will have myUTH access.
