UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Hey so I live in the Houston area and we are flooded very bad. My hesi exam was reschedule to after the application dead line. And I don't know what to do. The UtH application also ask for us to impute our HESI score and code on the application. Do you think I can keep that section empty and submit my application or is there any thing else I can do??

I am just lost and confused, even UTHSC nursing school buildinas are flooded, so I think they may be late with this process.

I'm not really sure how this is going to work. I would atleast try to fill out the application and if it works without filling out the hesi scores, just submit it. Than call the school once they open and explain to them what happened. If they reject it , I would ask for a refund. But try to get your application in. I don't know if putting zero in the hesi score would help to get your application submitted. I really don't know what else you can do. Hopefully they can extend the deadline.

Hi all. So, I have a major question regarding a class, and I can't get a straight answer. I graduated from UT over a year ago, and when I was there, I had to take Biostatistics. It was given as an introductory stats course, but it doesn't have the same course number as the transfer guide. Basically, psych majors take psych stats, bio majors take biostats, premed takes healthcare stats, and so on. My question is: should I take elementary stats just in case? I was told that I wouldn't know if it counted towards the statistics prereq until course evaluations were sent out (which are sent after the app due date and after classes at LSC start). I was also told that most students sign up for the classes they're not sure about, then drop it if it does count... but that costs money, and dropping a class a week after results in a loss of some of that money. I'm looking for opinions... anyone?

I took bioMEDICAL statistics and they originally told me it probably won't count but when I received my course evaluation it counted it as my statistics class.

I have a green dot on my application status. I believe it also states its complete. What color will it change to if I get accepted? Just curious.

Im not sure if anyone has answered your question yet but whenever your todo list is complete you will receive a green circle. Once you are accepted into the program you will see a green checkmark that says "admitted"

Okay! Thank you! I signed up for a stats class just in case, and it doesn't start till 9/25. So I have some time. I just can't afford to lose the tuition money.

Hi,

I hope everyone is safe that was affected by the floods in Houston. I looked on UT website and it appears that the Spring 2018 app deadline has been moved to Sept. 15.

Hello, I was suppose to take my test August 29th but they cancelled it due to the flood and unfortunately, my Prometric test center was closed all the way to August 31st. I am upset because I sent in my application and everything to UTHealth and I only needed to take my HESI Exam. I saw on the site that Pacesetter is changed to September 15th? On the side of the website, it says September 15th when you click application deadlines. I am not sure though :/

Hi, all. Hope everyone is safe and well. Just received this email a few minutes ago from UTHealth. This might be good news for those concerned about the reporting of HESI scores.

Due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey, the Spring 2018 Pacesetter BSN application deadline has been extended to September 15.

In order to have an application considered complete, the required applications materials must be received by this new deadline. This includes official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended and official HESI A2 scores.

The School of Nursing has an established relationship with Elsevier (the company that administers the HESI exam) and thus all exams taken between September 1 and September 15 will be reported to the School on September 18 and considered complete for the Spring 2018 review cycle.

If you have questions about the UTHealth admissions process, please contact the Student Affairs Office at 713.500.2100.

Does anyone's still say "initiated" by their transcripts and "incomplete" for admission status?

I do. I was told if you have incomplete coursework on your transcripts it won't show complete. The lady I spoke with wasn't very clear, but I believe this is the case.

Yeah that's correct. Mine said initiated the entire time even after the application deadline until I was able to submit my final transcript with the rest of my prerequisites and then it finally said it was complete.
