UT Health Pacesetter BSN Fall 2018

Published

I haven't seen a topic for the UT Health Fall 2018 program, so here it is!

I am applying for the fall with following stats:

Prereq GPA 3.65

Science GPA 4.00

HESI (just took it last Friday):

Reading 90

Vocab 92

Grammar 84

Math 96

AP 100

I am making a career shift with a BS in Chemistry that I got from UH Downtown.

Good luck everyone!

They definitely look at overall GPA. I signed up for emails a week or so ago, and I got an email from them titled "How Do I Get In?"

It says:

"Each component of your application is reviewed including your overall cumulative GPA, HESI scores (with special emphasis on scores in Anatomy and Physiology), and grades earned in sciences and the regular prerequisites."

Has anyone actually received a rejection yet? Asking for a friend who hasn't heard anything.

We will probably all get our rejections on or around the 15th? I'm pretty shocked too. I've only ever repeated english 1301 and educ 1300. I have a

4.0 science

3.8 cumulative

87 HESI w/ 98 on A&P.

Lol I'm pretty surprised and can definitely empathize with those who have been rejected. I filled out a scholarship application which I personally thought might give you a leg up.

I'm now beginning to think that UT health is a lottery.

Yes, I'm thinking that also...it would be nice to 1.) get a transcript eval to make sure that you have everything you need at least and it's not a question on whether a class transfers or not, and 2.) to not wait until the actual decision deadline.

Maybe it's me but I would think that sending out 1 big mass rejection email would not be that difficult...this way you can work on the next semester application and if any issue from #1 above you kind of have an idea on what you need to work on...courses, test scores, etc.

Mine still says Under Review also, so I'm kind of assuming what meandy stated before...most likely a rejection. It would just be nice to know what I need to work on...but if it's a lottery system then no clue and I am going to reapply while I study for the TEAS to open up the application process to include more schools and hope for a bite.

I also filled out the scholarship app hoping for the same thing since they do not interview anymore I figured this would be the only way to introduce yourself and not just your numbers.

Portal just updated to "application denied"...anyone else?

Mine still says "under review" but I already had my ugly cry sob fest on 5/31. LOL

Maybe my post triggered it lol

I was accepted to TWU as well but I really want UTH. The wait for a decision is honestly so ridiculous. Have you started all of the vaccines/titters for TWU yet? I haven't even registered for classes yet because I'm still waiting to hear back from UTH.

Did you get in UTH? I got denied but am on the waitlist for TWU and came across your post so I was curious!

Mine also says under review. I am still hopeful honestly. I applied to 4 schools and so far I have been rejected just from UTMB

Omg your stats are amazing

Some people on here have better stats than me, and for clarity my 3.8 is cumulative in the nursing pre reqs only. I have I think a 3.68 general gpa with my entire collegiate career. Still a 4.0 in science. I would have a 90/91 on my hesi but I bombed the grammar with a 78. ): There are plenty of others on this board with higher Hesi's and cumulative GPA's in totality than me. I believe I'm going to shut my book with inquiries as to "how, why, who, when, and what" with how UTH chooses their candidates. I've seen a lot of heartbreak on this board and I'm personally beginning to think UTH is overwhelmed. It's a tiny school and nursing is exploding in the Houston metro area and most schools can't keep up. I've read several articles about how nursing schools are turning away qualified candidates over and over due to a teaching staff shortage. I'm so sorry for all of us that are still in this same boat and upset about these denials. I think I've come to peace with the fact that it's probably a lottery. I'll try again for spring and summer 2019 but if I get in somewhere else I'll take it. Bottom line a BSN is a BSN. I can't wait to see y'all on the spring board!

i agreee with everything you said. I haven't heard anything yet, so I assume its a denial. I'll try again in the spring and then, Im pulling the plug on UTH.
