UT Austin Alternate Entry 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone! I did not see a post for applicants for Ut Austin's Alternate Entry MSN program for 2020, so I started one! I know the application just opened a few days ago but with all everyone balances, I figure why not start now? I am applying for their PMNHP specialty.

Does anyone know or where on the website the tuition is for the program?

In the information session I attended where Dr. Taxes led it, she gave two numbers: in-state for LeaDS was $39,000 and CNS/PMHNP was $45,000. The reason for the difference is that LeaDS is one semester shorter than the other concentrations.

Sorry, forgot to add that is for the total cost of the program.

Does anyone have the out-of-state cost of the program?

Hi! New to the board and I had a couple questions.

1. Has anyone else received an invitation to the UT Austin Behavioral Health Graduate Recruitment Event on 2/21/20 or know someone with experience that attended it? I looked this event up online but couldn’t find much information on whether they will discuss funding opportunities at all.

2. Is anyone else subscribed to emails from the HRSA Health Workforce? They announced a Notice of Funding for Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) Program today and I was wondering if UT Austin is a school that participates in the program— financial aid wasn’t sure.

Welcome! I have not heard of either of those? Did you attend a college recently and they got your e-mail to send you the recruitment? I got one for a UT graduate program about medical software creation, and that went to my college e-mail.

Which program did you apply to for the AE-MSN?

Hi, the email came from the PMHNP program director at UT — Donna Rolin. I interviewed for the PMHNP AE-MSN. I believe PMHNP, pharmacy, social work, and psychiatry MD prospective students received the email but I wanted to know if any other PMHNP students were going! ?

Oh, I see, sounds really interesting! I applied to LeaDS. Did you have your interview? I haven’t read any PMHNP feedback here yet. I wish you the best of luck!

Does anyone know about the chance of getting admission or rejection after an interview?? Is the final decision based on our interview performance?

I'm just anxious as I have never gone through such a process before.

I'm not sure of the chances of getting admitted or rejected after the interview? I did write down from the information session that 35-40 of the ~60-65 applicants were admitted. Then, about 25 actually enrolled into the program. I feel the interview is much like your typical job interview, instead of just choosing on a paper (resume, grades, GRE scores, etc.,) if someone is ideal, how they represent themselves in person is equally as important. Especially for the quick transition into the hospital/clinicals.

I don't remember if you already shared which program you applied and interviewed for, I'm sorry. Which one and how do you feel the the interview went?

Tracy sent out an email with the following: "Final admission committees will meet by the end of January." The decision of acceptance or rejection is probability determined at this time. I would think the score for admission will come from a combination of our admission requirement documents as well as the interview.
