UT AE-MSN 2018

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello, all!

This might be super early but I wanted to go ahead and start a 2018 thread. :cat:

I'm currently finishing up my last semester for my Bachelors degree in Spanish & Psychology at UT Arlington, I take the GRE on December 22nd. Any other future applicants out there? Or anyone have any advice as far as the application process? Not sure if I'd rather apply for LeaDs or PMHNP yet.

Received the standard rejection letter today; without interview invitation. Stats were: 4.0 GPA in both pre-req/cumulative calculations, 500+ volunteer hours with elderly / hospitals, strong letters from volunteer service. Pretty genuine PS built from volunteer work. Coursework included tough advanced sciences.

Doesn't seem worth it being out of state going in debt 80K+ for a LeaDS RN. My local college churns out RNs for less than 10k.

Are we just waiting on more schools to open up? During my volunteer service it seemed like every RN out of three were going for NP and I heard mockery it will be as common as the MBA once more schools cash in on the incentive to sell tuition for NP programs. Can't imagine fighting for a RN job with 80k debt and have heard a lot about accelerated 2nd degree BSN graduates already in that boat.

I received the email and assume we will hear back this week. It might take awhile for it to get through your server. I wouldn't reach out, if I were you, and just wait a week to see if you get it.

I wonder if UT shows denial or still in review when denied the PMHNP but offered the Leads. At least it sounds like they're getting to our batch.

I thought the leads set you up for three years work and then one extra certificate year for PMHNP? One extra year isn't that bad, especially with the demand for this line of work

Tuition + Room/Board is close to around 100k total for three years as a non-resident. Then the cert is roughly another 30k onto that. If you have resident status it would seem like a great alternative, however.

Hey all, I received an email this afternoon setting up an interview for the PMHNP program.

That's great! when are you scheduling yours? Has anyone else that applied to the PMHNP program heard anything? I haven't received any emails, good or bad.

You can apply for residency for tuition purposes after a year. I'm in Florida and UT Austin was my first choice.

I also got deferred to Leads. I personally won't take it because I know I won't be happy spending 3 years doing something I'm really not passionate about. It sounds like leads sets you up to be a nurse manager, and the nurse manager at my job does more clerical stuff than anything.

Hey! Can I ask you your stats and any experience you might have? I'm just curious in case no program takes me and I have to reapply next year

Just curious, did they give you a deadline on when to deny or accept the deferral to LeaDS? Just wondering if that affects when they'll start interviewing for LeaDS .

Tracy said next Wednesday the 6th was the deadline!

Received an interview request for PMHNP í ½í¸Š
