UT AE-MSN 2018

Published

Hello, all!

This might be super early but I wanted to go ahead and start a 2018 thread. :cat:

I'm currently finishing up my last semester for my Bachelors degree in Spanish & Psychology at UT Arlington, I take the GRE on December 22nd. Any other future applicants out there? Or anyone have any advice as far as the application process? Not sure if I'd rather apply for LeaDs or PMHNP yet.

Has anyone on LeaDs waitlist heard anything further? I asked if there was any movement in the waitlist on Monday but apparently that was the deadline for people to submit acceptance decisions so no movement as of Monday but I'm curious if anyone has heard since.

Also, favourduku, sorry, I just saw your PM. If you could PM me your email address, I'll totally respond but can't on here (

Wow! 144 comments :woot:

I obviously haven't been keeping up with this thread since I posted lol, but I'm so happy to see that so many of you applied & got into the program!! YAY! :)

I decided to wait until the next application period to apply. I'm still considering a few other traditional/accelerated BSN programs.

I wish you all the absolute BEST!!!!

Hello! I also did my Bachelors at UT Arlington and graduated December 2017. I'm currently taking the pre-requisite coursework to apply for the LeaDS program when it opens up in August. I plan to take my GRE in June so I have enough time for another re-take (hopefully I won't need it). Based on all the previous threads, I definitely feel like I'm not well-prepared for this at all!!

I'm really glad I found this website. It took me a while to decipher the acronyms everyone was using. I will be applying to the AE-MSN program for Summer 2019. After reading everyones comments, its safe to say that I am beginning to stress. I am currently serving active duty in the army as a healthcare specialist/medic and get out in December of 2018 (Fingers Crossed). Unlike everyone else from this past years application cycle, I have a bachelors of arts in history haha. Not very practical, especially with the idea of making the transition from a liberal arts degree into an RN-MSN field. Daunting, is the only word I can think of. Does anyone know if they look beyond GPA (my undergraduate GPA is not too hot, but I have two graduate certificates from Texas A&M that can make up for it; hopefully they don't hold that against me- GIG EM!) and GRE scores, and give some points for previous healthcare and accumulated hours of patient care interactions? UT's AE-MSN program and Vanderbilt's AE MSN are my top choices but realistically speaking, Vanderbilt's private tuition is insane. Currently taking my A&P I Lecture and Lab, and hoping to finish up with my prerequisites by December (I would just need Nutrition, A&P 2, and Microbiology). I was shocked when I saw the checklist for prerequisites and noticed that UT Austin accepts the transfer credits from Straightliner; the only one so far to allow that. If any one has any advice, I'm all ears. I don't think I can bare another waitlist from UT Austin :( I was waitlisted and was given a partial acceptance to transfer in the Spring, back in 2009 when I graduated from high school.

Hello! It's good to hear you got in! I was wondering if you could share you stats with us. Like total GPA, pre-req GPA, volunteer experience, and work experience...etc? I know UT looks at everyone holistically, but it would be so helpful so see stats from someone who was accepted.

Hi,

I am so glad to find this thread here,

I was accepted into the Psych/Mental Health program earlier this week. Good luck everyone!

Would you mind sharing your interview experience and how your first two years are going? Currently applying and waiting to be interviewed but still debating this specific program. Any insight is appreciated, thank you!
