USF- University of San Francisco- Applied? Considering?

Published

Hello!

Has any one applied to USF or is considering this school for Spring 2010 or Fall 2010? I am going to apply in October, so I am very anxious for October to arrive!

:D

A friend of mine just heard back yesterday from USF and was accepted! I asked her about when she starts clinicals and she said she wasn't sure but has also heard that there is typically a delay (sometimes of an entire year) before accepted nursing students can start their clinical rotation but since USF was the only school she applied to, she's just going to accept her position.

Anyway, good luck to all who are waiting! :)

Clinicals at USF start once you meet the requirements to be a Sophomore 1. First clinical is a community clinical, so your basic adult day care, children's day care, and maybe hospice depending on your instructor and time of year you are doing this rotation. Its more a psychosocial semester, prepping for communication skills and BASIC vital sign skills.

If you are transferring in your junior year, you're to the med/surg rotation (assuming you're at the requirement for a Junior 1, Junior 2 is pediatrics/maternity)

wait, 3 recommendations? their website specifically says one.

I was wondering whether there are two separate apps: one for the university and one for the nursing dept. If so, do we need two sets of transcripts? Does a separate nursing application packet need to be submitted and what needs to be in it? Do they need the TEAS scores and where should they be sent to? It says they look at extra-curriculars and leadership activities, but how do we submit evidence of those? Do they just want you to include that in your personal essay?

its one max two. i just went to a meeting and i asked if i could give three and the woman said no! she said "we need one and we'll take two, max"

Tick tock tick tock tick tock (waiting for the Fall 2010 response )

I got in for spring 2010, but the letter said it would take 8 semesters to complete the program!

Thankfully I already started the program at SMU this week!

Goodluck to everyone waiting.

Hi guys. I just sent in my app for fall 2010 as a transfer student for the undergrad BSN program. Could any of you guys who have got in the BSN program tell me what your GPA was, I just want to get a feel for what my chances are of getting in

Out of the 4 prerequisites (Anat/Micro/Physio/Psych) I had a 4.0 and my essay was pretty good too. It's very possible to get in to that program but be prepared to get in with 2 years of prerequisites under your belt and still have to wait around for atleast 4 more years doing their nursing program. If I were you I'd apply to other places that stick to a 2 year curriculum.

I have a 3.5 for those prereqs. I got all A's but a C+ in physio at SJSU. Also, my essay was just okay. Do you think I still have a chance?

Hm... I don't really know. I have a friend who had a 3.75 (she got a B in anatomy) and she didn't get in for spring 2010 but I did.

I think it really just depends on the semester and the specific applicant pool that you're competing with. But most people, from what I've heard, apply to USF because they realize they have a 4.0 there since there's only 4 prereqs. A C+ in Physio would be accepted at SMU though if you're willing to take all the other prereqs to get in there!

Let us know how you do.

Oh noooo, I am probably not going to be accepted I guess. Thanks for your help though!

Don't get discouraged. I had 3.5 gpa when i applied for the spring 2010 term and got accepted.

I think i barely had above a 3.0, but I had volunteer experience as an EMT. I got in a year ago.
