Hello!

Has any one applied to USF or is considering this school for Spring 2010 or Fall 2010? I am going to apply in October, so I am very anxious for October to arrive!

:D

did you guys get any letters yet?

i got my acceptance letter last saturday in the mail and like an email the day before that

pandar - No I still haven't yet..... Congratulations to you though!!!!!:yeah:

icalove - So I called the school again today and someone finally opened up my record for me and she told me that it says it's still under review. Meaning that they have not made a decision/gotten to it yet. She said that if they already looked at it and decided it would have shown that it was either accepted or rejected. So I think it's good news!!! I was afraid that since I haven't received anything meant that I haven't received the rejection letter yet, but that's simply not the case. Let me know when you hear back from them and I will do the same! Good luck to you....I hope we all get in!

Also to those that already received the acceptance letter----does it say how long it will take for you to graduate? I have heard that they sometimes push out clinicals because they do not have enough space and it could take much longer to graduate. Just wanted to know if that's true.....

thanks everyone and good luck to all!

Mine says I'll start clinicals in Spring 2011 and that it will take me 7 semesters to earn my degree which seems like a lot of semesters to me...

maybe they didn't take into account if you finish some of their classes at junior colleges or something.

Pandar-hmmm interesting. I think 7 semesters is 3 1/2 years---so a half year longer than expected. I guess that's not so bad. Yeah I've heard that their program doesn't have a lot of space for clinicals and they usual push clinical out even if you are ready for it. I guess they just don't have enough room for everyone...

thanks for getting back to me on that. I was just curious about the whole thing. Maybe that's how they are able to offer spots to applicants without going through everyone's application first...because they offer people different clinicals. very interesting........

Okay, so I applied for USF for the Fall of '10 because I was so tired of hearing this testimony and that opinion of who this person talked to. Here is what the guy emailed me:

Thank you for your email. We are currently still reviewing applications for the Nursing program. Most of the decisions will be mailed by the end of the month. If a student is admitted to the program, he or she will receive an email, followed by the official welcome packet in the mail. If a student is not admitted to the program, only a letter will be sent to the address provided (not an email). If you have further questions, please let me know.

So...they are not done with applications yet....All we can do is put it out of our minds and wait. :)

Hi guys, congrats on your acceptances. As for how long it takes to graduate for transfer students, I don't see any other way to make it shorter than 7 semesters. In fact, it's supposed to be only 6 semesters, but most (maybe all) transfer students have never taken Nurs 120 and Nurs 170 (Jesuit philosophy stuff, 1 unit each course), which are the prerequisites real nursing courses. Basically, tranfer students cannot take any nursing class beside Nurs 120 and 170. I think it's possible for those who do not need to take science prerequisites to go to school part time in the first semester and take only those two classes. Good luck to you all.

I am a transfer student at USF, I am currently in my 3rd semester (junior 1), and I never had to take these courses. I am on track to graduate in 6 semesters.

Kwantiko, thanks for clarifying. I looked at the curriculum and prerequisites for sophomore nursing classes. They all require nurs 120 and nurs 170, which most transfer students haven't taken prior to going to USF. I searched on USFCA, one nursing professor mentioned that students could do part time in the first term to finish the prerequisites for sophomore nursing courses.

Anyway, you know better than me because you've gone through the process. It's great to hear from someone like you. I wonder how you did those nursing courses like pathophysio without taking nurs 120 and 170? When you got your letter of acceptance, did it say 6 or 7 semesters for you to graduate?

Hi bluechick112! Congratulations on your admission! I'm considering on SMU and USF for my master's program as well. I will be applying next year and I just want to know if it is really difficult to get into their Master's Program. I want to apply to their EMSN programs but my undergraduate GPA isn't competitive.

kwantiko-thank you for your post. It's nice to hear from someone who is in the program. So what do you think of the program and the school so far? I am also curious as to when you got your letter, did it say if you will graduate in 6 or 7 semesters?

I dont remember my letter saying anything about how many semesters it would take. However, i was initially enrolled to only take "core" classes for my first semester. This is because there were no spaces left in clinical. But, i recieved a call about a week into the first semester, and was told that a space had opened up and i could start the program and clinicals next week.

Does anyone know if USF takes TEAS? Thanks!!
