Hey all.
Just thought I would start a thread for USF nursing program-BSN for spring 2011 to see when people start hearing back and what not! Wishing everyone luck!:)
yes, you can! just make sure with USF that the classes that you take transfers over to USF. and you usually need to fill out a PEAI (petition to enroll in another institution) and is kind of a pain in the butt because you need signatures from the office and the dean. but yes you can. you just can't take philosophy or ethics haha. i took a history class and some PE classes at a CC while enrolled in one unit at USF last spring and this semester im taking a literature class at a CC while enrolled in one unit at USF. :)
i think that's fine. i'm sure it will still transfer over. I took ethics before i got into USF and my transcript under USF says i didn't have to take that class again. However, i tried taking philosophy at a CC after i got in and they wouldn't let me. My nursing advisor said i still had to take it though. but im confused because on my studnet account, it says that space is fulfilled haha, still trying to figure it out. btw, what CC are you at?
I'm at Chabot college. So far all my classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays! Except for that philosophy class, but who care I can drop it.
Do you know a way I can look up the schedule for that one unit class just to be ahead of the game?
And you think it will be a problem if I'm already enrolled in the CC without the signature of the dean? Or am I thinking too much..
Thanks!

Hi Avill,
It is quite expensive, but I think it's worth it. Classes are small and professors are great. I'm a transfer student as well. I got in for Spring '11 and will be starting clinicals spring '12. For this entire year, i took the nursing 1 unit classes (1 for each semester) so that i only paid per unit (rather than the 18k for being a full time student) and i had finished all my prereqs. With the extra time, you can pick up a minor. For me, i picked up a business minor and I worked a lot this entire year (so i could save up and pay for books!) I also took a literature class outside of USF so there's plenty of other things to fill up your time. The way I see it, I got into a program (and there's been so much competition). I've heard that professors aren't so great at CSUs and with all the budget cuts, I really don't know. (Not to bash on CSUs but this is what I've heard) But USF provides a lot of opportunities to network and get out there so I see this as a plus.
but yeah, it does suck to have to add another 4 years. If you are thinking about grad. school, USF has a joint program that gives you a masters in a year less I believe. and i heard this was for transfer students only.
I have no idea about transferring clinicals. but i know someone who took a few non-nursing related classes at USF while she was waitlisted at SFSU and transferred to there when a few people dropped out. I don't know how many, if even, the USF classes would transfer to CSUs.
