Nursing Students School Programs

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

for those still waiting...i'm sorry to share that i passed my drug test...and background check... :p

oh...and i'm cleared for grad plus loans, so i can't think of any reason why my seat would become available. can't wait to meet all of you soon...)))

@gabe how did you get cleared for grad plus loans? I applied for fasfa but our financial aid packets don't come out until April. I'd like to get cleared too for those loans now! Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm new on this thread, but I wanted to say that I also received a call for my acceptance today! I'd really appreciate some advice on how to go about the grad plus loan. When I spoke to financial aid they had said that application for the grad plus loan wasn't until July. Can someone please clarify? Thanks a bunch!

@gabe That wasn't very nice..

You didn't apply to other schools so that obviously didn't refer to you. And I hope you know that's not how I meant it either way.

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you have done the drug screening? If so how do you do it? Do you have to go in somewhere to pee in a cup or something? Lol I'm out of town for the next couple weeks and have never done a drug test so I'm not sure. Thanks!

i applied here: StudentLoans.gov

there system seems to be down a lot. i had to go on there a few times over several days. i applied to make sure i passed the credit check, wasn't 100% confident how they consider outstanding debts. anyway...after applying it immediately told me i passed the credit check and was qualified for funding. i think you have to do a credit check annually.

haha...my bad...i was joking only about passing a drug test and criminal background check...which i assume is/will NOT be an issue for anyone here. :p

the plug about grad plus loans was to let people know they could apply through the department of education, at least to know whether they'll qualify. i'm sure the program price tag could actually be a major issue in deciding whether or not to attend.

aye...i'm excited about anyone being accepted, but definitely anyone here on this forum...that makes us classmates!!!)))

summer 2017 is in the 2016-2017 aid year, while fall starts the 2017-2018 aid year. i would imaging the 2017-2018 application period is in july.

it is a pee test (in a cup) - checks for 10 different drug families, including pot. for me, i was actually a little worried about opiates, because i had my wisdom teeth removed and took an opioid a few days prior and had not considered the potential ramification on a drug screen. no problem, though - probably already out of my system.

you print the documentation for the drug test from castlebranch, then take that to a LabCorp location: Labs & Appointments | LabCorp. the deadline is 5/1 for all that stuff...at least that's what it is for me. the lab takes care of everything on their end, you just hand them the paper.

i just received my paper acceptance letter last night, even though it was postmarked the 15th. for those wondering what's next, here's the link for that: Next Steps: Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Clinical Psychology, and RN Transition programs | myUSF

@Gabe: alright, cool. Glad we're on the same page. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thanks for all the info!

ne za chto...)))
