Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?
@aposs those who get accepted also have a status change online the night before, so if that were the case then we would all be waitlisted on this forum which is probabaly unlikely. Could also be that they didn't even update statuses this time and maybe people will still get called today? I have no idea haha. But I agree that they don't give you much time to prepare to start. SMU gave us 6 months and there is SO MUCH TO GET DONE! Some of the main things are CPR cert, physical exam, mental health screening, eye exam, CBC blood count workup, urinalysis, titers (must be postive for measles mumps rebulla hep b varicella) otherwise 3 step vaccination must be administered, TB ppd skin test x 2, one right after the other, background check, drug test, flu shot, childhood vaccination list with everything having to be current, ECTTTTTTT! I'm stressed about it and I have a lot of time. I can't imagine having to do this in 2 months.
Heres to hoping we all hear asap!
That's true. I hadn't thought about that.
I wonder why USF gives so little time between announcements and program start. Johns Hopkins is giving me 6 months and I don't have to make deposit until mid-April.
I think I'm going to go ahead schedule my renewal on my CPR certification and try to take care as much as I possible can ahead of time.
My dad works at San Francisco General Hospital and told me that someone affiliated with USF, probably a former student, told him that we would most likely hear back on the 15th if we applied on the 15th. Fingers crossed for not waiting too much longer!! At this rate Im going to need to take up yoga or something
If you're in San Francisco, where are you going to get your CPR certification? I was hoping CCSF would offer them, but for some reason they only have a pediatric class that is about a full semester long. Some places are so expensive
That's a great idea! Mine needs to be renewed too so I scheduled one for June. My program requires it to be the AHA health providers one with infants, children, and adults so double check with the program to make sure it's the right one that you get renewed. I'm pretty sure all the programs want that specific one. I've honestly already got most of the requirements done already but it's because if you don't have them by a certain time you can't register for classes. USF get your **** together!
Did any of you see from past threads that until about a year ago, USF wouldn't give admissions until 3-4 weeks before the start of classes for this program? So crazy because of all the requirements and people moving across country and quitting jobs and such.

@glash I took my initial certification with Safety Training Seminars San Francisco CPR Classes & BLS Renewal Classes. They are on 16th in Potrero. I am not sure if you attended any of the USF information sessions but USF will not accept Red Cross cpr certifications - it has to be American Heart Association and Safety Training Seminars is AHA certified. I will probably go to them to renew. Or just take the initial course (it has been a while for me). It is $80 ($60 for class, $20 for the book) for the 3 hour BLS course (San Francisco BLS Renewal CPR Certification Classes).
Thanks for the info! I'll definitely check them out. I haven't been able to attend the information sessions, but I did watch a video posted on their website a while back. I don't really remember much anymore because it's probably been almost a year since I saw it.
Hmmm.. Well, let's just be patient and hope for the best. At least we have each other's support in the waiting process
Ugh yeah that would be unfortunate. I'll be in the field during that time frame and I won't be able to pick up phone calls if that was the case. Is there any precedent for calling earlier to ask if i can know earlier due to military service?
@Egher Maybe call today. Say you've realized announcements may be made while you're in the field and you won't have access to communications. Maybe they'll either tell you now (pipedream) or perhaps you can give an alternate contact.

It's definitely possible for next Friday at this point!
