U.S.A. Florida

I'm starting this new thread to chat with everyone that's planning on applying to usf fall 2016.. I'm supper excited I hope that I get in.. Anybody else plan to apply to usf fall2016 nursing upper division

I have all my immunizations done just from working as a CNA, I do need to get them verified still though to send in, what else do we need to register for classes? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything

You will have to get them veeified through the CastleBranch certified profile. There will be a form that you complete, signed by MD/DO/ARNP, and attach proof of each vacciniation. Then they will be uploaded to Certified Profile.

Other remaining documents get uploaded as well.

This cannot be done until you get your USF Health Email account.

They will cover this at orientation.

Hey guys!!! Happy to join a Winner's Club!!! Congratulations!!!

I created a closed FB group and would like to invite you to join so we can discuss, talk, vent, share info, etc and nobody will know about.

The name of the group "USF ABSN Class 2017". Please pm me your FB names or emails so i can add you!!!

So excited!!!:woot:

Of course they would give us time to do immunizations, I just don't want anything to jeopardize my program! I have to get Hep B and also the titers. Signed up for my CPR class.

I've been stalking this thread to find out who my classmates would be!!! The vcare program takes classes with the ABSN students but we found out our admissions decision in March. Im so excited to meet everyone during orientation.

Awesome! That is great that we will take classes together!

Hello,

I have applied for Fall 2016, and got accepted for the interview; however, I received a letter a week later saying that because there are a large number of applicants, my application is on pending ? Is that their way of saying i'm not accepted ? Is anyone else going through the same experience ? let me know.. I have a great GPA, and might of got a bit nervous in the interview but answered everything well

I think they put you on alternate list, meaning that you still have a chance to get in if somebody decline ot forfeit their acception. Make sure you have everything ready (your immunization, etc) in case they will accept you, so you won't delay your registration for classes.

Sorry to say, but most of the time it doesn't work. I had this once, was placed on alternates and never get my seat. Competitive program, a lot of applicants, everybody accepting offer. Somebody told here that it was couple interview cancelation, maybe you'll get lucky.

Good luck and don't lose faith.

My friend from the program she initially got weight listed and literally the next day she was accepted so you never know people might still drop from the program

They give you time to get all immunizations done before the Pre-Emersion. They will cover everything at 7/15 orientation but if you want a head start:

Need a valid CPR card (CPRbuddy on Saint Pete is great)

TDAP, PPD titer, MMR titers, Hep B (series of 3, plus titer), and I believe Varicella Titer.

You can start clinicals without Hep B, but must have them within 3 months.

Will need a flu shot, but not until this year's vaccine is out (10/16)

Drug Test, fingerprint/background check and Certified Profile must be done before Pre-Emerson in August.

They will cover everything at orientation.

Where did you hear about the being able to start without the full Hepatitis B series? If I get started on that ASAP I will be OK but if they need you to have this prior to entering, I am out of compliance.

You can decline vaccination, it is optional.

Or, you can have 2 shots within a month, that will show enough titers. I got 2 shots already, the last one is in 5 months.

Yes, I saw in previous documentation that 2 is enough, so hopefully they have not changed that requirement. Obviously now there are several of us who do not have the full series yet, so that makes me feel better.

The Hepatitis B is options University-wide but not for Nursing (due to clinicals). You can't just decline it. Again, as far as I know, we should be good with the 2 shots and getting the third + titer later.

I almost can't remember if I may have had the series along the line somewhere. I'm thinking of doing a Varicella/Hep Titer/MMR combination. I figure the price of getting it done is cheaper than getting the Varicella vaccine (I have no varicella vaccine but I've had the chickenpox). And then that way if I have HepB immunity I don't have to go through the series.

Guys, this is driving me batty! I just don't want anything to get in my way of school. I really wish I had dealt with this months ago rather than freak about it now.

Hey Lana_K I sent you a PM about your group. I don't know if you didn't get it but feel free to add me to the group. Facebook

Congratulations to everyone who got in. I'm happy for you,

I really did bomb my interview, and I was not offered a spot.
