I'm starting this new thread to chat with everyone that's planning on applying to usf fall 2016.. I'm supper excited I hope that I get in.. Anybody else plan to apply to usf fall2016 nursing upper division

You can still get in with a quick interview. I remember my interview lasted 3 mins tops and I got accepted lol

Thanks dogunrinde.

Whew, just got back from my interview! Of course there were a few "I should have said this, or that," post-interview jitters, but I felt like it was strong enough. Also hear, you guys, that at least for today they had 4 cancellations so that is another consideration. Less interviewees better chances. :)

friday couldn't come sooner. good luck, all!

I agree I had my interview Monday , and I was so nervous.

All that is left is the waiting. Good luck to everyone.

Do you all have back-up plans and/or other programs you have applied to?

I've been accepted to Polk State College's nursing program. They are my 2nd choice because it would take a semester longer before I'd be able to start working. It's an RN program, but after the first semester you can start working on BSN classes. After getting the RN and getting to work I'd have 5 classes left to get my BSN from them if everything went according to my plan. It's also much more driving because I live 10 minutes from USF and I'm not really wanting to move.

This was my first round of applying, and I only applied to USF. My alternative plan is to keep working and apply next round to a larger pool of schools. I really hope it doesn't come to that. But yes, the waiting is agonizing. Hope I did well on the interview. At this point you have to say that you basically have to have interviewed better than 50% of the other candidates to get in.

I also only applied at USF, as well. My back-up plan is to get a degree in Public Health and eventually become an epidemiologist.

I have my master's and PhD in Public Health. Epidemiology is a good field to get into. :) I got my MSPH at USF, it seems like that is far less competitive than this nursing school business!! I'm really anxious about finding out tomorrow. I keep thinking "Oh I could have said this, I didn't say that..." Argh.

So, why are you leaving public health for nursing? I'm so curious to explore the topic a little.

I think my biggest frustration is that there are a lot of job opportunities in research where they want you to have the clinical experience. Even with a PhD if you're not in a university or really big city, there are limited opportunities to use your degree. Honestly, I don't know why so many people go into public health.

Personally, my mom had a really lengthy hospital stay and that really inspired me to pursue nursing. I was pre-med in undergrad so I've always been interested in health, and when you do public health, you are still in health but it's so far removed from the clinical experience.

Feeling slightly hopeful and pessimistic about today! I hope we find out soon. I'll post when I find out.
