USF BSN & ABSN Hopefuls Summer 2015

Hey I just want to congratulate everyone on their hard work and getting in! Very exciting! I am an upper division student in the Bayfront cohort and am graduating in August. There are TONS of questions you guys must have (as I totally remember being there not that long ago) and would love to help anyone out that needs it! I will probably be at your frontloading day when you meet with your groups, if you are Bayfront cohort, as I usually go and answer questions; or during your first semester check offs I volunteer as a "patient". Once again congrats on this big step and I look forward to meeting you :)

Hey @Medic6758, good to hear from someone during this calm before the storm of the first semester! I am very happy with my placement at Bayfront. I understand it's a Level II trauma center, and my preliminary direction/goal is to work in critical care. How about you?

Hello Crocogator, I was placed at Morton Plant Mease in Clearwater and very excited. I hope to obtain in position critical care as well, after 20 years as a paramedic and not getting to know any patients, I welcome a position where I get to know the patient and their family.

did anyone get admitted with a GPA lower than a 3.5 for pre-req and overall? Im applying for Fall and I want to kinda feel out my chances. My GPA is not high but I have a ton of volunteer hours from Moffitt and I've worked there as well. I hope that helps me as well as a strong essay which I'm going to have to go all in on.

Jumping into this thread a little late but looking to apply for the ABSN starting Summer 2016. An adisor told me all prepress had to be completed before the application deadline but if I am still enrolled in a few next spring 2016 they would count even though the courses would not be completed?

Also- USF says the prereqs must be completed within the past 7 years. I have a BS and MS from UF but unfortunately it was 8 years ago. When trying to enroll at HCC top retake these courses I was told that I could not repeat a course since I already received a passing grade (A) and it was florida statewide policy. So how do I retake a course I already completed but doesn't currently count since it was over 7 years ago. Also having read many of your comments on GPA- I have a 3.89 in my undergrad and 4.0 in my graduate. Im gathering that this may not be considered as they are only looking at the prerequisites?

Hey everyone- congrats on acceptance. I have a quick question. I'm planning on applying for the next acceptance(Summer 2016), but was wondering how long they took to make a decision after applying. The dilemma is I was accepted into Drexel for a March 2016 start, but USFs deadline to apply is March. I would want to know whether or not I got into USF for Summer start before I were to start at Drexel. If I were to Apply as soon as SOAR is open, would I get a decision before March?

For the past 2 cohorts, acceptance or denials went out approximately 2 weeks after the deadline regardless of when the application was submitted.
