USCIS Service Centers

Do you have any idea why Vermont is now the slowest among the four service centers on the processing dates? It seems Nebraska is the most updated followed by Texas then California.

This came to my attention coz a lot of nurses have been applying for Vermont and now that it had slowed down, they were thinking if they made a mistake in submitting their petition there.

Hope somebody could enlighten us on this. Will really appreciate it. :nurse:

The dates can change at any time and they do..............for the past --- years, Vermont was always the fastest. The change recently has been do to the fact that a large number of applicants were pulled out of the system with the retrogression, the largest amount being in the Texas and California centers. They are now being added back in, so you will see the times start to get more in line with each other. Remember that these times are not for things happening overnight for immigration...........they are subject to change at any given time.........

Vermont office for immigration has absolutely nothing to do with applying to Vermont for licensure. Vermont immigration only handles the applications for nurses who will be working on the east coast, NY is also included in this. This is completely different from where you have submitted for licensure.

Immigration is based solely on where your employer is, not where you were initially licensed. Two completely different things. One is thru the Board of Nursing, which is separate in its entirety from immigration.

But I still do not agree with using Vermont as a state for initial licensure unless you are going to work there, you still need to go thru the Visa Screen process, etc., and then endorsement, so no time is actually saved........especially if you are overseas to begin with.

suzanne for clarifying this issue. My friends are concerned about the filing of their I-140 in the Vermont Service Center. Mine was also filed in Vermont and has a priority date of June2004. it has been processed already but i am still waiting for the decision.

As for my friends' licensure application, they have decided now to apply for NY and they plan to work in NY too so i am aware that is another issue. I apologize if you misunderstood my post. I did not mean my friends to take the Vermont licensure. my bad!! :p

However, they are most concerned about the processing date of Vermont SC which is way too behind now from California, Texas and Nebraska, but i really appreciate you for enlightening me on this. Their petition was not yet filed that's why they wanted me to ask somebody before approaching their employer...

thanks. :)

The service center is based on where the employer is located. If they are going to work in NY, they cannot be processed in California, unless they have an agency that is doing the sponsorship and they are based in Ca. There is no way around that ruling.

I am also wondering why Vermont Service Center has become the slowest among the processing centers. I am also afraid that the visas would all be used up by the time they process my I-140. Is this possible?

By the way, my priority date is on May 23,2005.

California is currently the fastest because they had the largest number of nurses from PIC countires that were taken out of the processing ring for aobut six months, which allowed them to get coaught up on the others.

But California takes longer for getting approval to even be able to sit for the NCLEX exam.

Again, go for where you want to work, not for which place is the fastest. These dates do change, and do all of the time if you follow them regularly. Time frame will also be influenced by your employer as well as lawyer, so pick where you want.

Time frame right now for California has been under six months fro mstart to end lately, but that again can change at any time.

None of us have crystal balls to know for sure when those 50,000 will be used up or what type of program may be put into place to follow.

My I 140 petition has also been filed in Vermont, the papers were sent 1 month ago.

I wonder about the retrogression that I've read alot of here at this site, what exactly is retrogression and which countries is involved?

I'm a Swedish nurse, is Sweden involved in the retrogression?

Thanks

Anna

please use proper english when posting here. it is extremely hard to read without punctuation. if i am having issues, then i am sure that everyone else is, as well. please be considerate of others that are here.

The dates that are posted on the USCIS website are not always up to date. There are posters here that already have approval from July, 2005, and from Vermont.

Perhaps, you need to check with your agency.
