Nursing in Sweden
Ersta Sköndal and Sophiahemmet are also nursing schools in Stockholm. Most of the schools requires basic college courses such as Mathematics B, Social Studies A, Science B (alt. Physics A, Chemistry A and Biology A). VHS can make an assessment of your grades but you have to translate them into either swedish or english. The assessment is free but takes approx 6 months.. Here's a link..unfortunatly in Swedish=) http://www.vhs.se/templates/Page.aspx?id=1013

Nursing in Sweden
I don't think it would be any problems for you to go to nursing school in Sweden after you've completed your SFI because it means you should be able to speak Swedish and interact in society. It's best if you contact each school to see what criterias they have for enrolling in nursing education. They usually want you to have studied at a certain level and some courses at college(a.k.a Swedish gymnasie utbildning).

Nursing in Sweden
A couple of years ago when I worked at a nursing home here in Sweden we hired an American girl. She had a nursing education from the US and quite an impressive CV with many years of work experience. BUT she was hired as a nursing assistant since her education didn't meet Swedish nursing standards.. As for the language..she couldn't speak Swedish and that was a big problem at the nursing home since older Swedish citizens often don't speak English.. So in order to work as a nurse in Sweden you most definetly need to be able to speak Swedish. If you're not a EU citizen and don't have relatives/family in Sweden it is almost impossible to get a work visa.

Norway need new nurses
For me as a nurse in Sweden I can only say that Norway is a great place to work in. MANY Swedish nurses go to Norway each year to work- both temporarly and permanently and go back several times mostly because it is so similar to our health care system but the biggest difference is the salary! If you learn how to speak the language and cope with the cold weather then you'll do fine with adjusting. You will make quite alot of money as a nurse but you also have to pay alot of income tax and the living in Norway is very expensive.

Wants to purchase CNA crne prep guide from abroad
I am wondering where you can buy CNA crne prep guide from abroad (Sweden)besides from CNA? It would cost me over 200 CAD for purchasing it from CNA and it sounds quite expensive.

approved I-140 and entering US on B2 visa
Have you already received your tourist visa?If you have I guess you must have gone through an interview at the American Embassy and they issued your visa?In that case you shouldn't have any problems travelling to the US. But If you haven't and are going for an interview...I recommend you to bring all documents to show that you're going back home after your vacation, the officer at the Embassy would want proof that you're not going to stay there permanently. Good luck and have a nice vacation!

Forecast for us with priority dates from late 2005?
I think it is time for the USCIS to announce what will happen in the future. If this is the end for nurses to immigrate they really should tell everybody involved. Alot of us has spent money on tests, travelling, license renewal,VSC etc etc so it's more than fair that they send out a press release regarding this subject. Of course no one has forced us to do this and it is our own will but it would really matter to get it on paper.

Forecast for us with priority dates from late 2005?
Hi everybody I am just wondering what you think of applicants with PD from late 2005? My PD is OCT24-05 and it seems FAR away from now. I have been documentarly qualified since august-08 and on the list of those waiting for an available visa number. Do you honestly think there will be any movements with the coming visa bulletins for all of us from year 2005?

NVC -CP- GC Tracker
It is true that there is an ongoing financial crisis in the US,but not all states are that effected as you say. In Virginia for example where my mother-in-law lives. They are desperate for nurses in some hospitals and cities. Everywhere she goes there are flyers with the message that they need nurses now! They don't sponsor international nurses though. But they are definetly not saying no to those who are already legally in the country.

inexperienced nurse from Philippines to work in Dubai
I know a few swedish nurses who has been working in Dubai. They were nurses with many years of work experience (+15 years)and with specialist educations but yet they had to go through a series of tests, interviews, payments etc etc before they were hired.

International RN license renewal
A couple of years ago when my license were about to expire I had to pay for having it renewed. I haven't got a SSN either becaue I am still in my home country. The SSN is required when you arrive in the US and are going to start working as a nurse. You cannot get a SSN until you arrive in the US with proper documents and file for it at a INS office But just to be sure I think you should call Vermont and ask them, maybe they have changed their rules.

More unemployment news
