Hey!!! i am going to LA in a week to interview for the new grad residency program. Has anyone already interviewed, or know anything about their residency program, esp for the cardiac telemetry position? Do you know what it's like for new nurses to work there and any advice would be helpful.
Mine is for Step down unit. Very nervous here. I've applied to at least ten or so places, this is this the only positive response so far. How many people interviewed with? Do you know how many people were invited for an interview, and how many are accepted in the new grad program? I tried asking the nurse recruiter, but she said she doesn't know.
i think out of 600 some applicants, 105[?] or so are invited for an interview. and they are taking 40, if i heard correctly. good luck to you! :)

That is exactly what I heard. I hope we all hear some good news before Christmas. That would be the bestest :) present ever!! I was told that they would be sending out offer letters by the 17th.....oh the wait.
Any tips??? I guess my main concern is if they ask me questions like a clinical experience where you have to use your critical thinking skills. Behavioral interview questions get to me. I don't want to lie and make up stories. My clinical experience through school was interesting but i never really experienced something worth saying. Especially with the experiences that they had.
Thank you, Tristar! your response ease my worries a little. I have problem speaking in front of people, but a group of three interviewers is not bad. Your interview experience sounds almost pleasant:) By the way, if you don't mind sharing were there any clinical knowledge questions, like what would you do if pt stops breathing?
Nurse2, I hear you; my clinicals were not nothing close to exceptional, too. just try to remember a pt who made impression on you, so you could discuss the nur diagnosis and your actions.

I did not get any clinical questions, mainly behavioral
Thanks for asking lananp. It's been two weeks since my interview and it is very difficult to wait. I felt so comfortable during the interview that I could easily see myself working there....what about you? They were sooo friendly and kind. I would love to see all of us posting here next week on the 18th saying that we got an offer!
