USC Keck RN Residency Summer 2018

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to the USC Versant New Graduate RN Residency Program for the summer of 2018. This is a way to stay updated throughout the process and ask each other questions. Thanks and good luck to us all!

For those of you who received interviews last year what do you recommend will make my application stand out? Do you know if Is there a gpa requirement

Write something that stands out and grabs attention on your personal statement. The coordinator reads through over 600 of these so make it interesting! Also, follow the instructions on the website exactly as it is stated.

I don't believe GPA was really considered for me. I agree with VW45; tell your own personal story and try and grab their attention. I'd like to believe I did that through the stories I told in my cover letter and in the interview in why I went into nursing and how I showed that I cared for my pts. I want to say that they do look for RN's compassionate for the field. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Hi everyone,

For those who have applied in the past. Was your personal statement and cover letter a hybrid of both? Or separate documents?

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone!

For those who are applying for this cycle, are you able to access the application online? I was sent links for 3 different applications (med/surg, icu, and periop) but only the periop one appears to be working. Wish I looked into this sooner since the app is due today!

Separate documents. I would keep the cover letter short and succinct and avoid repeating the same thing in the personal statement, except for your unit of choice. I wrote a small paragraph about why I chose my unit of choice in the personal statement.

Thank you, VW45!

Thank you so much!

Hi all,

I assume no one has heard back from USC, right? A little premature I know, but figured it didn't hurt to ask.

Thanks!

Personally, I applied in June and didn't hear back until the middle of July, literally a month later. And then interviewed at the end of July. Hope that'll help!

Hi! is there any where I can find the practice test for the med admin. I am taking the pre assessment test for the EKG and med admin next week? I am freaking out about this
