This years thread for usagpan applicants to share information and ask questions

My understanding is I am to shadow a current SRNA for 2.5 days and the interview is during the second half of the third day.
Congratulations on getting the interview! A 3 day interview! I hope lunch is included. I wanted to ask if you are applying as a VA applicant, civilian (direct ascension) or active duty?
The old USAGPAN forum mentioned..
"Your Phase 2 interviewers will examine your character, family life, and of course academics too. They want to have some level of confidence that you will persevere through the challenges, which are far greater than that of civilian CRNA school. A lot of it is about aptitude and fortitude. Your GPA, GRE scores, LOR's and CCRN prove your aptitude, while your life experiences, character, flexibility, honest self awareness, and never surrender attitude will demonstrate fortitude."

It varies from person to person. I would have a basic understanding of alpha 1, beta 1 & 2 receptors and medications you used in the ICU that work on them. Otherwise just remember that if you offer information about a patient you should understand the patient…. Meaning if they say tell me about a challenging patient you had. You should be able to explain the pathophysiology, the treatment etc (if you bring up a patient with inc. ICP -> how does mannitol work; what is kellie monroe etc.). Otherwise show up, be humble, ask questions you have while shadowing the SRNA. Make sure you family life is in order and won't hinder you from completing the program.
This is just my opinion. Nothing set in stone. It might not be helpful but we all had a different experience. Don’t get too stressed about it.

Good luck!
I have my interview through the VA scheduled this coming Monday, just trying to focus on getting ready for that interview this weekend. I am applying as a dual applicant and also have my shadowing interview at Fort Gordon the 6-9th of June. Also just trying to study for the CCRN which I will take right after I get back from GA. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats! I have a zoom interview scheduled for Monday as well as a VA applicant! They said that it would be 30-40 minutes - has anyone heard what all is covered in this first interview? Have been preparing all weekend., just not sure what to spend time focusing on with such a short interview timeframe!
My interview was yesterday. Since I am a civilian and considered a direct accession it was heavily based on my social situation- lots of questions about my family and how we anticipate adjusting to military life. Just a couple of clinical questions but nothing terrible. Just be honest and admit if you don’t know the answer to their questions! It was WAY less stressful than I thought it was going to be. Good luck!

What was your impression on the faculty of USAGPAN in your zoom interview? How did you do? Did they tell you when they will send out acceptance letters? or rejection letters?
They were all very nice! Did not give a date that we would hear back but did say that it wouldn't be long, so not sure. We shall see...

I'm waiting for my interview to be scheduled and I've been studying CCRN stuff and drips. Can you tell me more about how your in person interview is set up? Is it multiple days and in a different state? Any more insight on the format?
