Hi! So ai just started exploring options for the Army and I feel like I have so many questions but my AMEDD recruiter has been so busy. Would it be silly of me to consider applying this year despite I just learned of this program? I have 3 years of ICU experience, have all the other requirements aside from GRE (so sad was hoping to find a program that does not require this). I am not currently in the Army as of right now. I have connected with two gals currently in the program and I am just so excited looking at you tube vids and trying to learn as much as possible. I did apply the last two years to other programs, the first year was more rushed and I know I needed more experience. This year was a definite let down but I feel like it all makes sense because I needed to find THIS program if that makes sense? I just had to share my excitement.

You should definitely apply! It’s a long process and slightly complicated but it is well worth it. Sadly the GRE is an army requirement (I felt the same way when I had to take it)

You have a Youtube about it, right? I tried finding it and could not. I definitely plan to!

I actually removed it just because information may change year to year. Didn’t want to put incorrect info out there. If you have questions though let me know. I generally know most things

Hey Mikey, I just started looking into the USAGPAN, am a Navy Hospital Corpsman Veteran, got my RNBSN in 2019, and currently work for the VA in their ICU. I know the VA has a program that has slots in the USAGPAN, and I am hoping to get into the program through the VA. However, if for some reason the VA doesn't work out, would I need to start a whole other application for the ARMY's program, or will the VA's application suffice? Also, the last time I took an OChem course was in 2016, which looks like it will be just outside the 5 year window... is there a waiver for that, or should I look into taking a class in the Spring to fulfill that requirement?

For Ochem I would reach out to the POC on the usagpan/Baylor site. Though I doubt there is a waiver but I cannot speak on their behalf. For the Baylor application it should be the same I believe however the army application is separate and would I’ve to be completed.

Hey everyone. I have been looking into USAGPAN for a while but I'm trying to figure out if I should attempt applying for the 2023 cohort or wait until the 2024 cohort. I will have 3 years of ICU experience as of the 2023 deadline but I still need to finish an OChem class, finish my RN-BSN program (ending in July), and get a competitive GRE score. While I am excited to get things going, I'm wondering if I should wait until I have all those things and can focus more on the application process. The whole application process seems pretty involved and since this would be my first time applying, any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hey everyone, nice to meet you all. MikeyD, thank you for setting this up. I’m planning to apply this year as a civilian. I have 9 or so years of experience between a neuro ICU, CV/mixed ICU and a touch of ER and hemodynamic sales. Wrapped up my BSN and CCRN earlier this month and working through a biochem course recommended by the college. I got in touch with a recruiter last year and started working on my packet just after the new year. Had my first medical screening today. I’m planning on taking the GRE in March. Any tips for the GRE? Has anyone taken a prep class that they would recommend or would it be a waste of money?
Best of luck to everyone attempting this!

If I were in your position I would reach out to a medical recruiter. I’m not sure if your graduation date for your BSN will be a barrier. My recruiter said they want everything turned in by mid June this cycle. I don’t know their stance on courses in progress during that time.

I agree, more importantly I would ask usagpan directly on that one. Magoosh is a good study site for the GRE.

Hello everyone!
Would anyone happen to know the percentage of applicants that were accepted over the previous few years? I hear from some people that there are hardly enough applicants to fill all of the slots, but I hear from others that it is extremely competitive to get accepted.
Also, do active duty applicants have an advantage? Or does that not matter. I'm a 66S.
Thanks!
