USAGPAN 2022

Published

This topic is to help those interested in applying for usagpan 2022. (Us army graduate program in anesthesia nursing). I was recently selected to attend in 2021 and I am a recruiter, so I have a unique perspective on this process and I would like to help.

Sad to say this, but I’m glad I’m not the only one encountering confusion. It seems like this process has been confusing for the majority of our recruiters. I signed a contract last week for “PhD CRNA”.   I’m like..whoah guys what’s this, and they ensured my repeatedly that it was for USAGPAN. Because, as mentioned in previous posts, I have no intention of being a 66S at the North Pole ?. I asked what happens if I don’t obtain Baylor acceptance and they flat out told me the contract is for CRNA school, but it still worries me a little. It doesn’t seem like they are familiar with this process.

Other than that password reset email, nothing from Baylor lately.

Don’t worry about the PhD CRNA thing. It’s just the system auto generating. Happened last year as well.

Looking over the contract and I’m a little confused about the reserve requirement after completion of the active duty 5 years. Anyone have any insight on that?

Does it refer to "Inactive Ready Reserve"? Most mil contracts are for an initial service period followed by a period of IRR which means you are not actively serving, drilling as a reservist, or receiving pay, but the military can call you back to service by the president if a need exists. This would only be for a major conflict and not likely something you would have to worry about. My initial Air Force Reserve enlistment was for 6 years active drill time with two years IRR. Your recruiter (or maybe MikeyD) should be able to better outline the exact amount of time you would be in IRR and what it entails for the Army.

It is time in the IRR(inactive ready reserve). For lack of a better way of explaining it’s like the pre-qualified draft. You have no obligation but to keep your information on file and up to date. All initial military contracts are for 8 years total. The difference is the IRR time
