This thread is super early but I want to create a spot for USAGPAN 2021 applicants to share our journey! I’m mostly posting this thread now to spread the word about Iowa Central Community College’s Intro to Organic and Biochem online course - CHM 130. This option was a lifesaver (read: time and money saver) for me and I have to pay it forward. I checked with the Baylor liaison and the course fulfills the chemistry requirement. The only prerequisite is Intro to Chemistry I. I hope this helps someone and I’m looking forward to the upcoming application year!
4 hours ago, MagicMAC said:(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) said there were over 200 applicants who submitted this year (!) Apparently a good amount of the active duty gets placed in another program for active military only. Anyone know anything else about that? I hope everyone on this thread gets in — good luck to all!
There are 5 people a year from the army placed in USUHS a school in Bethesda Maryland. It is a tri service program (though I specifically chose usagpan as my first choice). I pulled the data from the recruiting side (and I have the active duty side). There are a lot less than 200 that made it through the process. I don’t want to give the exact numbers but I’ll just say you have a very very very good chance of being selected if you met the criteria
WOW!! 200. Well, I know I had heard that about 35 civilians on average get selected for the program. Last year the program did not have but about 40 to 50 applicants. I want to say that the class was only about 25 or 30 total.
Anyone think that the COVID pandemic has anything to do with so many applicants this year?
I am so nervous just waiting. Good luck to all friends.
I don't know about the army side of the house, but I know the VA has five in last years class. We finished our interviews I think Wednesday and she told we would know who the selectees are "within two weeks". I honestly have no idea how many VA applicants there are this year or how many they are taking.
When I asked I was told on average about a hundred applicants and they have space for 25-50 students depending on how many competitive applicants they have. Sounded like they scale up or down in class sizing depending on the need. I’m hoping we hear from Baylor first thing this week so at least that part of the anticipation can be over! Best of luck to all!

Yeah you should be fine, minor stuff like that that doesn’t affect you at all should be good to go. Sometimes they ask for paperwork or an evaluation but sounds like you’ll make it through in the end. Meps processes all branches in every location. If you live in areas like North Carolina I’m sure they are stupid busy. Here in Michigan we can get folks in in about 2 weeks. They could have crappy staff where you are it’s a total roll of the dice. Meps doesn’t work for the recruiters or the recruiting organization as a whole so they answer to themselves. It’s decidedly inconvenient.
