USAGPAN 2021

Published

This thread is super early but I want to create a spot for USAGPAN 2021 applicants to share our journey! I’m mostly posting this thread now to spread the word about Iowa Central Community College’s Intro to Organic and Biochem online course - CHM 130. This option was a lifesaver (read: time and money saver) for me and I have to pay it forward. I checked with the Baylor liaison and the course fulfills the chemistry requirement. The only prerequisite is Intro to Chemistry I. I hope this helps someone and I’m looking forward to the upcoming application year!

There are 5 people a year from the army placed in USUHS a school in Bethesda Maryland. It is a tri service program (though I specifically chose usagpan as my first choice). I pulled the data from the recruiting side (and I have the active duty side). There are a lot less than 200 that made it through the process. I don’t want to give the exact numbers but I’ll just say you have a very very very good chance of being selected if you met the criteria

Thanks for clarifying MikeyD, that makes me feel a lot better!

FY2019 our class size is 24; 19 direct commission, 5 prior service, 0 VA.

Anyone think that the COVID pandemic has anything to do with so many applicants this year?

100% — I came back to my unit after an extended paternity leave, and seriously about half have either left or decided to go back to school to get away from bedside critical care =/

Yeah  2019 was the first year I was going to apply as a VA applicant.  I was disappointed to hear we were not doing apps that year.  I applied in '20 but didn't even get an interview.  This year I got the interview.... Just hoping like the rest of these guys we are among the selected!

Word. I have access to pull all the data on who actually completed a physical, met the army requirements, gre etc. the 200 is just people who “applied” but didn’t all meet the qualifications. Baylor doesn’t have that access actually. They just get the Baylor application not the army application.

Anyone hear anything yet?

I just received an acceptance letter as a VA applicant that I was selected.  I can't imagine the Active Duty acceptances would be much longer!

I guess that would’ve been a better first response. CONGRATS indeed, Bryan! That’s awesome!
