USAGPAN 2021

Published

This thread is super early but I want to create a spot for USAGPAN 2021 applicants to share our journey! I’m mostly posting this thread now to spread the word about Iowa Central Community College’s Intro to Organic and Biochem online course - CHM 130. This option was a lifesaver (read: time and money saver) for me and I have to pay it forward. I checked with the Baylor liaison and the course fulfills the chemistry requirement. The only prerequisite is Intro to Chemistry I. I hope this helps someone and I’m looking forward to the upcoming application year!

Are there any other applicants for the VA here?

Hi Brian, I will apply, eventually, I'm still trying to get to ICU. I have shadowed couple CRNAs at my VA, who went through this program. They are so encouraging.

Are you applying already? What VA are you from?

I did apply this year. I applied last year as well but did not land an interview. I did make it to the interview process this year, so have my fingers crossed it goes well. I am at the Temple VA in central Texas. What about you?

I'm San Antonio VA and applied, I know my gre is not good enough, but I will apply next year as well. Good for you that you already have heard back from them for an interview!

Thanks, my interview is Monday so I'm prepping all week end for it. My GRE was decent but my over all GPA was not good thanks to some undergrad work I did in my early twenties.

Has anyone had trouble with forms submitted regarding hrs worked and the DA 7653? So I submitted my package and now I have been told by my recruiter that the ICU supervisors have to resubmit the hrs worked letter to include number of ICU beds and whether the facility was trauma level and such. This is too much. It took me many moons to get the 1st letter from them. I guess I am having issues because I am completing my hours as a travel nurse so I have a new facility every 8 to 13 weeks.

Hey y’all. Here’s a weird situation for ya. I’m an applicant and a recruiter LOL

active duty, completed everything as well as my two applicants that I am doing packets for. 1 Reserve, 1 direct accession.

good luck. Last years thread says they were notified 4SEP just FYI

if you are still pending a physical they may accept an exception to policy to board without it (ask your recruiter). Also you will likely be notified by Baylor before the board convenes. If so you are selected by Baylor you are very very very very likely to be approved by the army as long as you have your packet complete. Cheers!

I’m still waiting to go to MEPS for the physical, hopefully it won’t be too much longer.
Submitted everything early last month so just waiting.

Hope you worked out your physical. The deadlines are looming so hopefully you completed or we’re able to get an ETP

There is a standard form they should have given you up front that they can copy and paste into letter head. I would advise you to contact (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) directly if you are having problems and see if he can contact usarec to resolve. Being a travel nurse doesn’t really jive well with our policy but maybe a good word from him will smooth things over ?

Thanks for the info on last year’s thread. I still have not been cleared to do my physical yet but my recruiter already planned on the ETP as a back up and submitted that. Still just a waiting game now. I hope find out soon because I find it upsetting have my application thrown out even though I submitted everything on time.

On a side note, I am curious though, are you active duty nurse and recruiting at the same time? How does that work? One rank, two jobs, one salary?

I’m active duty and was working as an ICU nurse before this assignment. I did some moonlighting on the civilian side to stay fresh but still would be a little rusty if accepted. I meet all the criteria though so fingers crossed!

yeah meps is a real bare. And they are all very different. If you have medical history it can become very much a pain in the butt or if you submitted a lot of medical documents they get quite a few days to read them and give a result. Hang in there! We didn’t ask for ETPs here but they came down and actually asked us if anyone needed them (which is unusual) so I think you’ll be fine

That’s pretty cool MikeyD, getting back into the swing of things should be easy, fingers crossed here too.

No medical history for me but a few sports injuries from high school that have healed up fine and no surgeries.

I’m thinking covid backed everything up, plus the local MEPS station is for all the armed forces where I am at. I’m not sure if they have separate ones for each branch in other places but I’m sure everyone is overwhelmed with being cautious.
