UPENN BSN MSN 2020

Updated:   Published

With the application deadline in ~30 days I figured, why not make a thread for applicants? I could've sworn I started a thread for this last week but can no longer find it. I'm applying for the PMHNP speciality and although UPenn is a relatively new addition, I have fallen in love with their program. Looking forward to replies from everyone.

Any idea when we should be heading back? Is it early February?

ABSN decisions will be out first week in February. I don't know about other programs. I suspect accepted students day will be towards the end of February because the first week in March is spring break.

Also, I thought I read somewhere that if you do not meet requirements for the MSN portion, they will still consider you for the ABSN only. Does anyone know if this is true?

You can get into ABSN and not make it for MSN. However, if you make it for MSN you automatically make it for ABSN. So yes if you don't make it into MSN , they will definitely consider you for ABSN

Would you consider "early February" the first week of the month? I got an acceptance to another school and the deadline to accept and pay the deposit is February 14th. Penn is my top choice and I'm hoping we find out before then. ?

I feel your pain!! I got accepted to a school that needs a deposit by February 11th and I don't really know what to do. So frustrating!!

@nursesab2000 and @Riri35, ABSN decisions will be out first week in February. The school is very much aware of deadline for decision making for other schools. The weird thing about Penn is that it changes every year depending on who is on the admission committee. I can't speak to other programs like midwifery etc. Also if you don't the time line I just gave you, email Filomena and let her know the dilemma you in. Sometimes they can even use this opportunity to share the good news before official letters are sent out. It will all work out ? ?, give it one more week.

I contacted Filomena and have not heard back. How are we sure it's the 1st week of Feb? I emailed because 1 part of the website says early-Feb and 1 says mid- Feb. I'm in the same boat and I really want to know. I am going to give it until Feb and then start panicking :/

In the email they sent us after applying, they said early February. I interpret that to mean first week of Feb. I

Ahh, okay that makes sense. I hope so!

Do we know if they tend to release decisions on Fridays or weekends? I know a lot of schools will release decisions on Friday afternoons, and was just wondering if Penn follows this trend. If so- would we hear this weekend, or the following? Getting so anxious!

Yeah I’m getting nervous too, as I have other schools I’m waiting to submit deposits and documents to... I emailed filomena this morning to ask about decisions, so I’ll let you guys know if she responds.
