2018 UPenn BSN/MSN

Published

Greetings fellow 2018 UPenn BSN/MSN applicants! Just thought I could start a thread for the incoming applicants so we can help each other out through the application process.

Does anyone know if we need to submit separate transcripts for study abroad programs if it's already clearly stated on our official undergraduate transcript? Thanks! : )

Interviewing on Dec 11th for nurse-midwifery! Looking forward to meeting the rest of you!

Finally got the invite for the Psych interview! I have to do via phone because I have a family event that week and I'll be even further out of town. They say it won't affect anything, but I'm still nervous.

Wondering what everyone's gpa's, healthcare experiences are?

Wondering what everyone's gpa's, healthcare experiences are?

Hey!! I have a psychology major in my school's honors program and I have a 3.8 GPA. I got a 154v/150q/5.5aw on the GRE. I studied abroad in Ireland at University of Limerick's nursing school, I teach human anatomy, I developed an inpatient psychiatric intervention for CS Mott Children's Hospital through University of Michigan. I also have my CNA and CPR/AED/First responder licenses. I also work as a medical assistant for a radiologist and also as a daycare teacher. I keep myself quite busy :) What about you?

Does anyone know the number of students admitted that have interviews??? Do they give interviews to everyone?

@Sb328

Hey! I am currently finishing up my BS in Nutritional Science/Toxicology with a 3.5. Scored a 156/156/4.0 on the GRE. I have been a CNA for the past 3.5 years, working in Acute Care, ICU, and Cardio in the hospital and Home Care/Alzheimer's. I also do research at my university and the hospital I work at. I teach physiology laboratory for undergraduate students, and am the president of the pre-nursing society on campus, along with a bunch of other random health-related leadership roles :)

I applied for the AGACNP program and am planning on visiting campus to interview in December!

What Specialty did you apply for? MSN or BSN/MSN?

Wow you guys have great stats. I am worried about my grades, I have bachelors in psych with 3.2 and finished up most of my prereqs at a county college. I am an EMT and volunteered on a squad for 2 years and have worked in the emergency department as a scribe for a little over 1.5 years now. I applied for the FNP so unfortunately am gonna have to wait to hear until February.

Great stats for those who have shared! I have my BA in Psych, graduated with a 3.3 GPA, but I also had 2 brothers die just 2 months apart and had to take a leave from the program mid-semester (Imagine the amount of W's on my transcript if you're discouraged). However, In just one month I will have my Masters in Social Work, my GPA is currently 3.7 (hoping that it will go up a tad by the end of the semester). I am currently a Licensed Master Social Worker working in the ED, but above all I cherish the internships that I have had thus far and believe that they are my edge. I have worked with homeless youth and homeless youth living with HIV/AIDS in a few different group homes, and I have also interned in both mental health and healthcare hospitals providing clinical therapy across the lifespan and also providing case management services.

If they see something in you they will see it through your short answer submissions, your experience, or your stats and it is already written. I like to come here to feed my anxiety as we count down to February but to be honest I hate to see anyone discouraged. Many roads can lead to one destination!

Just as a general reminder... You are not your GPA!

These schools look for so much more than that, and you ARE so much more than that.

When it comes time to interview, let your personality shine and your GPA or W's won't be the thing that defines you.

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else signed up for the phone interview. Have you heard back from the office yet? I signed up, but I haven't gotten a date and time. Is anyone in the same boat?

I haven't heard anything too. :)
