Most of the info that I've found on this forum about UofW is at least a few years old, so I wanted to start a new discussion.
I'm in the second (last) year of my ADN program at a "brick and mortar" school in Charleston, SC and am looking into different online BSN options. Want to know the pros/cons of University of Wyoming's online RN to BSN program. I only want to discuss this specific program, and would especially appreciate input from people who have already done it or are in it now. So far I know:
Pros:
Very affordable
BSN classes can be completed in 1 year
Cons:
Have to pay for admission before any transcript evaluation will be done
Have to take a few courses like WY history and their pharm and patho courses
Anyone have any other input? Especially course format. Online discussions? Projects?-group or individual? Papers?
Thanks in advance...

I would like to know too. Did some research on it in the past and discovered just what you did. Another poster here did tell me that their nursing school is a well known school in the nursing community, very respectable. :)
Anyone else have any other input?
I wonder what they say about it over on the Wyoming Board. I still haven't decided if I will go this route or Cal State Dominquez Hills.

Do you have to go to the campus for anything, such as a clinical evaluation or such? Some schools have a requirement to come to the campus at various times for various lengths of time. Could be inconvenient, particularly during the winter months. Does their website have a student forum that you could contact other students to ask questions before you enroll? Is there any other way that you might get in touch with present or former students?

I read about this online rn-bsn program and it looks very affordable and would fit in to my schedule much easier than driving out of town (accepted to another college at this point). Any experiences with this online program would be great? Is it accurate to say that each credit is approximately $138? if I'm reading it right?
Micky, it's true that U of W is the least expensive. I've been checking out their website for a couple of years now :)
Thanks Steven for starting this thread. Maybe we can get some good input from students who are currently in the online program.
I think I am going to fill out an application and send my transcripts. This school will be much more affordable for me plus it's all online which definitely fits in to my work schedule better. I have taken 5 online classes and love online classes even though they do require more actual homework.

I think I'm going to try to call UofW this week and get some more info. The tuition is one of the best... but I wonder about various fees.
Anyone know what their classes are like? Lots of papers, projects, tests... or?
I'm hoping to settle on a program and start by Fall 2010. I need to get going!

Same here. I applied today. Will have to wait and see what they say. They do say they require a 4 credit stats course? The one I am taking (almost done) is only a 3 credit course. I hope it can count. Patho and Pharm are ones I also do not have. So, looks like it would take me longer than a year if I have to take those two classes first but maybe you can complete the program in 18 months?
Sorry for all the posts but does anyone know if U of W has a clinical component still? tia for any info
Did you ever settle on a program?
