University of Wyoming, advice

Published

I have been researching as many schools that I can that are completely on-line. I may be moving within the next year and the destination is uncertain. So this seems to be the best route. I have narrowed it down to two schools. I know i have seen the University of Wyoming mentioned on this board because that is where I got the idea. Anyone attending or who has attended on here now? I was wondering if you liked the program? What you don't like? Would you recommend the school to others? What would you say to a perspective student. Well, I would appreciate any insight!!! I have taken on-line classes at a local community college but a bit nervous about this. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!

Hi snowy and pixiel,

I just enrolled at Univ. of Wyoming too. I spoke to Maureen last Monday and she was very nice and pleasant to talk to. I sent 2 transcripts for evaluation (had a previous B.A.) so i have most of the liberal arts and math courses out of the way. I still have my final semester in AAS nursing (graduating this June) but i was told i can start taking other pre-reqs until i take my Nclex in July. I was hoping to take 3 pre-reqs this summer(Socialization Prof nurs, Pathophysiology and Assessment). Do you guys have any idea where to check for the subjects being offered this summer?

Thanks a lot and good luck.... I'm also excited about this program :)

THANKS for the kind words Snowy. It seems like things are working out. keep in touch

Paula, I am not sure. I am going to try and take some in the summer too. Maybe we will be in the same class. Well, all Maureen told me was to watch for summer registration in April because the classes fill up fast. stay in touch

Sorry, I am taking STATS at my local community college. I think they offer it on-line too. I am not that good in math so I decided to take it in the classroom.

Also, you might try to call them and they might tell you wich ones they are offering in the summer if you can't wait until April.

I have been taking classes through UW online. I find that they are very helpful and the cost is much cheaper than anywhere else that I have checked. The patho class has a lot of reading. I took that class by itself as I work full time. There is a lot of writing to do in the nursing classes, but that was expected. I really hate writing papers. The instructors are very helpful. I am doing the program slowly, just a few classes at a time. I really want to keep a good GPA and I don't think I could do that if I took a lot of classes at one time.

Hi lyv33

Do you know what courses offered in the summer and where can i look for them?

Also, the pharmacology it says outreach (not online).... what does it mean? Thanks a lot

The courses are listed on the home page. Just click on Courses that's listed your left side of the screen. I don't think they will have the courses listed for the Summer session yet. The pharmacology is through the outreach program. That is like a correspondence course, but you will receive about 26 vcr tapes that has taped lectures on them. The tests are proctored. Hope this helps.

WHOO HOOO!! I still am taking prereq's at my local community college but they told me I could also take come classes at UOW too. They told me to start with Nurs 3010, however, it was waitlist only. I received an e-mail today. I am in!!! I am a bit nervous and rushed to prepare but sooooo excited. Paula, maybe will be in some of the same classes in the summer since I will be taking those courses as well.

If there is a lot of students in the classes they will put students into several different groups. The students in your group is the ones that you have threaded discussions with, usually for a grade.

That's awesome! I'm shooting to get totally started by the fall semester. Good for you! Keep us posted how its going!!!

maybe we should open a new thread just for UOW students :)

Maureen emailed me today. She is so nice. They're still evaluating my 2 transcripts.

will keep you posted what happens.

I've got to call and get my transcripts sent tomorrow. I'm so excited to even being doing this! I think i have 4 pre-reqs to finish tho. I'm not sure just yet. Sounds like this program is GREAT!!
