University of West Florida (UWF) FNP Program Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi !

I have decided to make this new forum because I just applied to the University of West Florida FNP Online Program and thought this would be a good way for all prospects to communicate as we go through the admission process. I know we must all have some questions, and I am hoping we can all ease each other through this process.

If you run into this forum and are currently in the program please feel free to give us an inside scoop :). Any info will be greatly appreciated. I know this is a fairly new program, so I hope to hear from you soon!!

I just started the program May 11 and all I can say it's amazing how straight forward the classes are. Currently in Evidence Based Practice and Advanced Pharm which is semester 3 and scheduled to take Adv Health Assess, Foundations of Nrg Sci, and Pop Health Promo and Mgt. I am taking the classes out of order due to classes that are available each semester.

You will find out if you are accepted 2 weeks after the deadline. I applied in Jan, and found out March 12. The application process was simple and straight forward and the enrollment recruiter was awesome at guiding me on what's next to submit for the FNP program. Afterwards, you will receive an email of stating you are accepted with paperwork to sign to accept the seat for the FNP program and then to schedule an appt with your academic advisor who will automatically sign you up for classes.

Attached is the plan of study. Start looking for your preceptors as soon as you are in and registered for classes.

Again Good Luck getting and keep trying. This was my 4th and final attempt for a state university. ^_^ You will get there when the time is right.

Thank you so much! Glad to hear it's a good program! This next month and a half is going to feel like forever LOL. I'm also really hoping to get into a state school but I know it can be competetive. Any idea how many students they admit? I asked the advisor the acceptance rate, but they weren't too sure... just said it's competetive.

I can't wait to find out! Thank you @cyram81RN for all the details. SO far the advisor I am working with is great, super sweet and made the application process easy and quick.

I have a couple of friends that are doing other online programs and they are not happy right now haha. But I am looking forward to this program.

I needed the state university because there is tuition reimbursement for state universities, but time will fly by here before you know it. According to my recruiter enrollment they accept about ~~ 50 students, but not exactly sure because she told me they usually have over 250+ applicants. Keep trying, I think USF was more competitive than this school. But I chose this program because it is a smaller professor to student ratio.

I have a FNP student who is following my clinician and I assist as needed and she said she will never refer anyone to her school. =(

WOW!, 250+ is a lot! I didn't think FNP school was as competetive as nursing school. I hope my application is competetive enough!. I looked into USF but I won't meet their June 15 deadline for this fall. I can still meet Nova's deadline, but this is my first choice. Are the lectures recorded or live?

There are no lectures because we are working different times of the day so most the assignments are divided in modules with quizzes at the end of the modules. There are plenty of discussions which is what I expected because it great to see what a person's opinion is like from a different nursing specialty. I thoroughly enjoy this program so far and it has been a month and I think that if were able to complete your BSN online this will be no issues. Just keep yourself accountable and motivated each day.

GUYS! My application status says admitted :)

That’s awesome news!! Congratulations!!

Mine says an admission decision has been made and I will receive a letter in the mail. I assume this means denied ?

I’m just waiting for the letter to know if that’s accepted for sure ? I hope everyone gets good news! Excited!

I'm worried ? because plenty of people seem to have an update and I don't just yet. Hopefully they are still getting back to us next week. Fingers crossed !!
